    irc 5185

We have picked up 7 of these copiers for our rental fleet but we are now getting asked by print shops who are interested in purchasing them to use in there shops. My question is how dependable or reliable are these copiers to be put into this type of enviroment. Thanks for any replys.

the machine itself is good, but find out what kind of stocks that these print shops are going to be running. Stay away from glossy stocks especially the text weight (thin stuff)

From personal experience with print shops/ they will kill this model
this is a business office clean enviorment model/
print shops are not clean & have a poor enviorment

print shops do not listen to instructions/
u better make sure the fix unit is not included in contract/lease price.
unless u like shelling out 1,000 US Every 2/3 months for one unit x 7

Thanks for reply. Yeah the majority will be gloss paper dual coated 60 to 80lb. Jobs can be 50 to 5000 sheets at a time one and two sided. We have about 25 irc 3220's out in the field as office copiers and some run about 5000 full color ledger runs per month and they handle it pretty good but being unfamilar with the ir c5185 im trying to get as much info as i can before i have a discusion with prospective byers and my employer about this placement. If theres anything else you can think of that i should be aware of please let me know and again thanks for reply.

Other than the feeder and fuser...whats the diff? Yeah Id be worried about that belt fuser in a print shop just like Teckat said. Last year in Dec when the C5051 was still new the ir5185 were blowing them out of the water at the Canon tech training center. With all the new updates I hope the new adv model is doing better. I just got a new one to take care of.

The 3200 was a much more forgiving machine with the various paper stocks that it would run. The 5185 is a great plain paper or regular cardstock machine, but with all of the gloss that they are looking at running through these units I would stay away. Not worth your time, money or frustration.
