[Error Code] Canon irc 2880i Colour sensor needs cleaning

    Hi,
I've inherited a Canon irc2880i and it is coming up with this error. As i dont generally deal with colour copiers i've given it a going over and this seems to be the only problem( thus far!!!!). Could someone please steer me in the general direction of the fix for this.

    Many Thanks

I have never seen or heard of this issue in the 5 years this unit has been out and I can't find anything on it either.

post a photo of the display showing this error as i have never heard of this problem, otherwise try performing an auto gradation adjustment

Re: Canon irc 2880i Colour sensor needs cleaning

Well after disconnecting all the cables from the boards( I know Overkill) and leaving it overnight got round to putting back together and NO message...... Wellll thats not exactly true its now displaying an E000990-0000 error. Which i believe is to do with the waste toner shutter sensor??
I assume this to be the cover over the worm spring so i shall attempt to clean all this area and locate the sensor and blow that out.

Its late now and i'm off for the weekend and shall worry about it next week.
Thanks for the advice and please let me know if i'm still looking in the wrong area.

I would double check your connectors if you didnt have this issue before reseating all of them like you stated.

E990 0000 Shown on the Display

                Workaround :
When the locking Handle for the Process Assembly is turned to the locked position it re-positions a rack that opens the Waste Toner Shutters. When the rack is in the correct position there is a cutout in the rack that unblocks PS12, if the sensor remains blocked an E990 0000 will be generated.

Remove the Hopper Drive Assembly (p10-23 to p10-25 in the Rev.0 Service Manual; p10-21 to p10-23 in the Rev.1 Service Manual) and the Hopper Assembly ( 7-66 in the Rev.0 Service Manual; p7-48 in the Rev.1 Service Manual). With those items removed you will see a white nylon gear plate with 2 locking screws. Loosen the locking screws and position the gear plate so that when the handle is in the locked position, the cutout in the rack unblocks PS 12. (See photo below)

hello, I've got something like your problema.O image sensor located near the drum unit black very soiled. I had to clean often. I noticed that the shutter of the toner waste was not being fired when I moved the black lever that locks the unit process. I had to disassemble the entire unit and reposition the shutter in position. see the image os the nylon gear showed .
