    Physical lock and key

    Hi guys,
I just received a IRC3580i and it comes with a physical key. Is there any way through service mode that i could disable this hard lock function?
i am a little worried as I have only 1 key and if it get lost, i do not know how to switch on the copier.

Kindly assist and thanks all in advance.

    SERVICE MODE: COPIER>FUNCTION>CLEAR>PWD-CLR

    PWD-CLR

Clears "System administrator" password set in user mode.
    MEMO:
The password value is cleared after the main power switch is turned OFF/ON.
    Operation method
    1) Select this item, then press the OK key.
    2) Turn the main power OFF/ON.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

If it as actual key then this was added on by the previous dealer or company who owned the machine. If you only have one then go make copies of the key and hold on to them in the office for future use or remove the key mechanism so you do not have to worry about it.

If the key is on the side of the machine this is the key switch unit, you can either make spares as has been suggested and keep them safe or you can remove the lock, and disable in: COPIER>FUNCTION>INSTALL>KEY.

However the key lock has a wire connection that should also be disconnected but requires you to remove half of the panels on the machine to get to, can you confirm that you are a trained tech for these in able to do this?

If however the lock is on one or all of the paper draws then there is no service mode item and they can be removed as you wish!!!

those are the same keys that came with the older CLC's for free. I have hundreds of those things collecting dust in a cabinet back at the office.
