Canon iR6000 "Discover" Scanner Not Working... Save Me From Getting Fired!

    Alright...

I made a thread earlier about not being able to print and I'm making some progress with the iR6000... I am now able to print wirelessly without any issues.

Now I am having trouble getting the scanner to work. Before I reformatted my bosses computer, he could scan by opening the ScanGear program, going to place whatever he needed to scan on the iR6000, and then clicking the "Scan" button on the ScanGear program. So what I did is I went ahead and reinstalled Network ScanGear v2.30. The "ScanGear Tool" loads up and I go to hit "Discover" to find the iR6000. It searches for about 30 seconds, then nothing comes up. Here is a screenshot of what I see:

So what do I do now that it's not showing up? I was assuming it would show up, I select the iR6000 in the list, and hit "Select"... but if it's not even showing up?

My boss is really angry with me and I don't want to get fired from my job for this! My intentions was to reformat his computer to make it faster but I had no idea it would be such a pain to reinstall the iR6000 drivers and get it working again.

Can anyone help me with this? The printer model driver I installed is a Canon iR5000-6000 PCL6, which I believe is the right one since I can print now from his laptop.

    Thanks!

if search using ip address it must be found. if you can not find your antivirus block the network scan gear tool. disable antivirus and try to install. or add exception to firewall. and try again.

      Hello,

I do not have any anti-virus installed, so I do not think that is the issue.

I went ahead and disabled the Windows Firewall and did another "Discover" search in ScanGear. It again came up empty.

You mentioned "if search using ip address it must be found"... how do I find the IP address of the iR 6000? How do I know what to put in for the IP address it is asking me about?

      Thanks for your response!

To discover the imageRUNNER over the network.

          Hi, ampol

Hope this does not comes too late and you still have your job.

Since you are able to print, you should be able to check what is the IP address from the printer driver properties. It will be on the 3rd tab named "Ports" after "General"; "Sharing" Once you got the IP address (eg 192.168.1.111), click "Address..." button of the ScanGear Tool to manually type it instead of using "Discover" button

can you ping the device from the PC you are working on? have you tried hitting the RUI through the web browser? If your PC cannot see or talk to the device then the scan gear tool will have the same problems.

Alright guys, I am making progress here thanks to all of your help! ScanGear Tool now detects the scanner. Here's a screenshot:

So I highlighted the iR5000-6000 listed, and then hit "Select".

So now what? My boss says he remembers being able to open a program and it having a "Scan" button that he could click on once he put paper in the feeder that he wanted to be scanned. On this program I don't see any "Scan" button anywhere. Am I missing something?

I feel like I'm so close to having this issue solved (and saving my job, thanks to all of you - lol).

Welcome But u didnt said how did you solve it

You can use Acrobat Reader To improt fastly from Copier to PC but this Tool (Scan Gear) just to define the Scanner to Copier for once you will not need to use it anymore.

Re: Canon iR6000 "Discover" Scanner Not Working... Save Me From Getting Fired!

                    Hey mramlawi,

Thanks for your response. I am a little confused by what you said. How do I initiate or start a scan? My boss said that he remembers having a program that he would open (ScanGear), then he would go put paper into the scanner part of the iR6000, and then when he got back to his computer, he could click "Scan", and the scanner would scan each page. I'm not seeing any type of scan button anywhere on the ScanGear Tool program (as seen in the screenshot). So am I missing something?

I just need to know how to start a scan. I went and put the scanner "Online" and still nothing has changed.

                    Side Note:

The way that I solved the previous issue of the scanner not appearing is thanks to the help of teckat. He sent me this link: Network ScanGear v2.30

I uninstalled my ScanGear Tool that I had before, and installed the ScanGear tool from the link above that teckat gave me. This solved my issue and allowed me to see the iR6000.

you have to hit the scan button on the control panel and turn the scanner "ONLINE" then you have to use a program on the PC to scan into using the network scangear twain driver. It supports PDF's JPEG's and TIFF's if I remember correctly.

                        charm5496,

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned before, I did go ahead and mark the Scanner as "Online" from the actual iR6000. It's all ready to go. You mentioned now I need to run "a program on the PC"... what program is this? As I mentioned before, my boss says he remembers being able to open up a program that had a "Scan" button on it. He could just go to the scanner, put paper in it, and then go back to his PC and click "Scan" to start scanning. What program can do this?

Again, you mentioned "a program on the PC", but what program are you talking about?

that sounds like Fiery remote scan.

You just need a program like adobe or picture viewer and I think even work can import pictures via scannner as well.
