Canon iR5570 prints black, but copies ok

Looking for help to diagnose a problem. When printing to the Canon iR5570 5570 it sometimes prints a complete black background with visable print that is white ghosted. This only happens when printing if you make a copy it is OK, also machine gererated test prints are OK. Could this be bad Ramm on the print controller?

Thats a strange one. Post an example. How often does it occur? Is it happening from a particular software program? Under printer settings in add. functions what is print density set at? Sure sounds like a print controller problem.

The density makes no difference in printer settngs, also the customers secound machine runs just fine from the same print job. So it must be the print controller causing the problem. So my question is do I try replacing Ram first?

I wouldn't just assume it is your print controller. Load the printer on your laptop and connect with a crossover cable to test. It could be something in your customers print driver

Well Christmas is over and back at it. The custome has two ir5570's and all drivers software programs and print jobs, work just fine on the othe machine. The exact same print job, prints fine to other machine. Turning the copier off and back on will sometimes clear the problem. The problem used to show up every month and now it shows up every day and is getting harder to clear by turning off and on.

Posting an example of the problem here would be helpful. Did you try removing and reinstalling the print driver? What software program are they printing from?

i have same problem after resetting the copier
the problem is same when printed the configuration page from settings
but the copies are ok or of good quality
the problem is same with printing from pc or while printing test page or manually printing configuration page

copier => option => body => PO-CNT => set 0 to (factory is 1)

I had this issue with a similar machine, and after swapping various boards about, it turned out it was the laser causing the issue. It was intermittent at first, then became frequent, and resetting the machine would clear the fault for a while. Didn't matter if it was a print or copy job. Hope this helps...
