Was working fine and customer called to day and said when they put a 8 1/2 x 11 on the glass it says it is a 11 x 17. When they put the 8 1/2 x 11 R in the doc feeder it puts it on 8 1/2 x 11 but the image is going the wrong way. What has happen?

First check your ADF Open/Closed Sensor state position operation-
sensor.JPG
The machine identifies the size of an original based on combinations of measurements taken of the light reflected by specific points (using a reflection type sensor
and CCD). In consideration of possible displacement of the original when the ADF is closed, the machine uses a 2-point CCD check.
- Main Scanning Direction:
by CCD (AB-configuration; 8-point measurement; inch-configuration, 6-point measurement)
- Sub Scanning Direction:
reflection type photo sensor (AB-configuration: 1-point measurement; inch-configuration: 1-point measurement)

if ok> do a CCD Adjust next >>>
below probably does not affect your case----
Any paper size placed on the platen glass gets identified as 11X17 on the imageRUNNER C5185 Series.
Make sure that in Service Mode Level 2 under COPIER > OPTION > BODY > SENS-CNF is set to 1
On the Reader Controller PCB, there are two Original Size Detection Sensor connectors (J207 and J208). J207 houses the AB-configuration and J208 has the inch-configuration. In service mode, SENS-CNF gives you the option to select either the AB-configuration (0) or the inch-configuration (1). If this key is set to a 0, it will not read the length of the paper since the machine does not come with the AB Original Size Detection Sensor installed. Therefore make sure SENS-CNF is set to 1.
