[Jamming] ir7105 Fuser 'crinkling / creasing' prints

    Hi all,

I've been having this problem for 3 days and cannot sort it at all (and neither can our service engineer). I have a big print job to run (1200 booklets) for Monday, so its now looking like I will be in all weekend boooo.

I have an ir7105 that creases pages (and often jams) when attempting to create a saddle stitched booklet from pre-printed A4 pages (printed on a canon irc4080i - too many pages for this machine to fold, so having to use the 7105 to do the booklet'ing), and also with a pre-printed cover inserted.

The main paper is normal 80gsm and the cover is 200gsm, though the printer never seems to have any problem with the heavy cover, only the 'innards'.

The problem seems to occur when the pages hit the fuser?

Any ideas? Am losing my mind trying to fix it :/

      Thanks,

It's recently had a new fuser (in the last 2 weeks) - we've tried every tray and drawer, changing the heat/weight settings on each drawer, order and orientation of the prints, and so much else.

Should have mention that the problem only applies to the pre-printed pages coming from the other machine - blank normal paper goes through fine.

So we're thinking it just doesn't like whatever the previous printer (irc4080i) does to the paper!

Not in front of the machine now, but the click would be quite high and it's certainly not the newest machine :/

Did you get a totally new fuser?
          If not:
          was the lower roller changed.

Try lowering the nip pressure on your old fuser, to experiment first.
you are lucky the colours are not smearing.
you might have to find a guy with a standalone booklet maker to finish your job.

Buy used booklet maker Staplers | Bargain hunting at private-offer.com

            Thanks for the suggestions.

            This mornings update!

It will now take the pre-printed pages from the bypass, but only one at a time (it'll fit three but it seems to mangle the 3rd booklet every time), and only with a very slight crease on one or two pages.

It *seems* to be that the fuser is getting too hot near the end of the run, thus creasing some the final pages - so I've now got the door "tricked" open with a huge industrial fan blowing on the fuser air vents to try and limit the overheating, which gives a "bloody hell, this shouldn't work but it actually is" result.

Think the machine is ready to be upgraded after this run! (Provided it doesn't end up in pieces, a-la Office Space).

            Thanks!

Sorry didn't answer your question - the whole fuser was replaced. We definitely think it's the fuser, as we've never had this problem before (we run this job annually).
