    IR5000 Touch Screen

IR5000 has a touchscreen that is out of sync with the LCD. Center of screen works ok but as you move to the outer areas of the screen the touch function doesn't line up with the LCD button images rendering most functions inaccessable. The sync is so out of whack we are unable to get into the touchscreen calibration function. Tried reseating all control panel connectors with no luck. We are leary about doing a hard reset because if it doesn't work and re-sync the touchscreen, the machine will be pretty much a boat anchor because we wont be able to redo any settings with a useless screen. Any ideas?

      Exactly

Thank you for the reply. We know this is normally how you would re-calibrate the screen, problem is the screen is so off that we cannot access this mode. Kind of a catch 22.

        touch screen

My experience in the past has been replacing the screen. You might try reseating the connectors on the control panel, that fixed one. Nationwide Repair has the screen for less than a hundred bucks. Good luck.
Like the United States Postal Service It's a miracle it works!

Instead of the whole screen assembly, there is the touch panel assembly that sits right underneath the top glass. That is more than likely your culprit. I don't have a part number for you, but maybe one of these helpful and knowledgeable gentlemen might be able to supply you with it if you can't acquire it yourself.

That's a good tip! I see in the parts manual there is something called a "Grounding Sheet" that looks as though it lays over the LCD assy. The part # is FB4-6704-000. I guess we will give that a whirl first considering it is only about $5.00 - much better than having to buy the whole assy.

1st. disable connector ribbon from connector and cleaning carbon by eraser rubber. Connect ribbon connector to socket and use multi-meter check carbon pin and socket pin confirm.
2nd. change touch screen only part code " N010-0554-T009 " (search by google)
