c3480 c2550 imagepass cont j1 a strange brew ????? need advice and drivers.

c3480 can have a j1 imagepass and so can the c2550 . with ver 1.1 ssw I am supposed to get windows 7 drivers in web services I think . Or or these only at esupport? I guess Ill have to get to the update. If anyone has connected these recently in windows 7 64 bit environment I would appreciate the incouragement. This is going into graphic shop with big cs5 software in use.

    thanks

I am not finding anything for the J1 and 64 bit support on the TSC or on canon usa.

Nationwide repair said it was possible with ssw ver 1.1 I will update it soon and see. The driver should be in with the ssw. i dont know anywhere else to get if you cant find it. EFI didnt even show the j1 imagepass on their website. They used to have everything. I cant believe that the c2550 or the c3480 both current machines. The c2550 is sold with the j1 available. I dont understand why win 7 wouldnt be supported!

machine and imagepass are 5 years old and the focus is never on the old stuff.

I did check the Canon Europe site and they are showing that the PCL5 ver 8.85 is win 7 64bit compliant.

          Thank you Sir

PS was the most important and it is there for the 1.1 version ssw! Will Canon USA ever correct the mistakes on the " new" website?

looking closer at the file selections it does have win7-64bit listed in there for the PCL and I would try the vista drivers if you need PS. You are going to have to connect it and see what you get.

Like you had said when is that website being update.

Sometimes, we are face with situation of Customer breathing down your neck, not much choice left but to try and see how it goes. Win7 has the restore point feature, you could enable it and install these drivers. End of day, if it fails just restore back prior to your printer driver installations.

Besides that no one is that ignorant not to read a brochure or go to www.usa.canon.com and check driver compadibility. What the hell do you think they are going to say when windows 7 isnt there. They might end the discussion and buy from someone else. How many sales have been lost because of this. We cant be there all of the time to convince lazy or nervous IT people about new unfamilier equipment showing up. If it sounds like im talking from experience then you can drink some more ale. Cheers!

these are the two files that should work with win7 64 bit. screen shot is from the public canon usa website.
