customer just called and said, after about 10 to 15 minutes the irc4080 touch screen will go blank the say canon on it. they unplug and re-plug in and turn on. the copier comes to ready then starts to print for about 10 to 15 minutes when the screen goes blank and then says canon. asked for service codes and the customer says none because the screen goes blank then says only canon til they shut off and unplug and replug and the copier always comes ready and tries to finish prints from pc. this copier is mostly used for pc printing and a small amount thru adf or off the glass. all prints are mostly color. also they use the scan more than copy. thinking bad hard drive maybe system software. any ideas? thanks.

I would start by pulling the RAM and boards from the main controller and cleaning the contacts and reinstalling them.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned. -

Start Reseating connectors on all the boards. This has solved many problems on Canon for me exactly like this...Comment

thanks for the info, next time they call i will try that. i did talk to the customer and they said it seems to happen when they print, because i ran a 1000 copies of glass and it ran fine. so, i have them tracking the person printing when it messes up and to find out what they are printing and if it is off pc or internet. then if it is only one person i told them to delete drivers and re-install and run virus scan on pc and let me know. thanks again for the help!Comment
