    IR1023

I have an IR1023 with dark copies. The internal prints, reports etc. come out nice. When I copy them on the glass or in the document feeder, some letters are bolder then others and it has background. The copy over all is to dark. Any information would be appreciated.

    3) Arrow key to Display "TEST MODE"

    SHEET POSITION ADJUSTMENT

    1) Enter Service Mode
    2) Place 5 white sheets of paper over the Stream Reading Glass
    3) Arrow key to Display "TEST MODE"
    4) Press OK
    5) Press the 2 key to Display "SCAN TEST"
    6) Press the 3 key to Display "SHEET POS ADJ"
    7) Press OK

Background on the Copies, When Scanning from the Feeder.
also check-----------for a broken feeder base frame. If the base frame is broke, it will leave a gap at the rear of feeder. The gap will allow stray light in and background will appear on the copies. Check the rear base frame at the hinges for damage. If damaged, install a new Base Frame. The part number for the Base Frame is FL2-3983-000.

Cleaned optics. Also made copies on glass with white paper on top, so I did not get a light leak. Did check hinge, was not broken. I will try shading adjustment, thanks

          prints are ok !!!

if your glass copy issue is in > same place/area all the time> does not move
          it is an optic issue

It happens thru the document feeder and on the glass. Print jobs are fine. Entire copy is to dark. Has back ground on all copies and letters are to dark. If I go into manual exposer, I can lighten it up all the way, almost a normal copy quality. But when in Auto exposer forget it, it is back to too dark.
