If the feeder is not detecting the width of the paper properly....the slider guides may be slightly out of alignment/position and you may need to disassemble the tray and align it properly so the VR measures width correctly. If the length is not being measured properly check both length sensors and flags for proper operation.

      to add on--

      DF Copies
      COPIER>OPTION>BODY>SCANSLCT
Use it to enable or disable the original size detection mechanism for the ADF.
      • When enabled, the scan size is determined in relation to the original size.
Settings 0: off (default), 1: on
Caution--After making a selection, be user to turn off and then on the main power switch.

      Glass copies
      COPIER>OPTION>USER>USER
      SIZE-DET
Use it to enable or disable the original size detection function.
Settings 0: enable (default), 1: disable
Caution--After making a selection, be user to turn off and then on the main power switch.

Tray width detection variable resistor adjustment mode
      [Operating procedure]
      1) Detach the rear cover.
      2) Set the DIP switch (DSW1) on the ADF controller PCB as illustrated and press the push switch (PSW1) to let the ADF into tray width detection variable resistor adjustment mode.
Perform 1 for the AB system, 2 for the inch system, or either 1 or 2 for the AB/ inch system.
      3) The start of tray width detection variable resistor adjustment mode is signified by LED2 flashing slowly for the AB system or by LED4 flashing slowly for the inch system.
      4) Set the following kinds of paper in the document pickup tray, adjust the slide, and press push switch (PSW1).
      • AB system: A3 or A4
      • Inch system: 11X17 or LTR
Pressing push switch (PSW1) will cause LED2 to flash fast for AB system or LED4 to flash fast for the inch system.
      5) Set the following kinds of paper in the document pickup tray, adjust the slide, and press the push switch (PSW1).
      • AB system: A5R
      • Inch system: LTRR or STMT
      7) When the writing of the adjustment value ends, the LED goes off, and the tray width detection variable resistor
      adjustment mode exits.
      8) When the adjustment is completed, set all ADF controller PCB DIP switch (DSW1) bits to OFF.
