    Driver problem

    HI All,

This is not a machine problem as such but i thought i might get some input as to possible cause of problem.

I have a customer with a IRA c5030 they use Dept code/pin for colour printing, B&W does not need a code. Recently the had some problems with their print server, their IT providers (external IT) installed a new server (server 2008 R2 x64).

Since the new server was installed they have been having problems with the dept codes.

From the server it all work fine, print a colour job set dept id and pin and job prints out.
From any workstation black printing works ok, however when a colour print job is printed after setting the dept code and pin it comes up with a validation error, also if we try the get device status button in the driver properties it also fails (this works from the server). A driver installed locally on the workstation works correctly with the dept codes.

I seem to me that something on the server is blocking communication from the workstation to the MFD, not sure what protocol is used (SNMP ?).
The IT guy tells me that both server have been set up the same.

This is something that the customer IT will need to sort out however, it would be interesting to see what is causing the problem, would love to hear others thoughts on this.

    Re: Driver problem

    Hi, Tech01

Have you click on "About" button from any of the workstations, not server? It MUST reflect 2 information (Printer driver versions and DIAS version). If it do not have DIAS version, following might be a few factors (there could be others):

1 Server's side might have block it (firewall?? Services for DIAS not running??)
2 Server's side Printer driver version AND workstations' driver version not matching

For Point 2, could consider deleting 1 of workstation's affected printer queue, restart workstation and re-install printer driver shared queue from server.

      Hi KL568,

Think you could have got it with DAIS, didn't install drivers myself, will let IT contact know and post back.

      Thanks

You NEED DIAS enabled in order for it to see dept id's and mailbox names.
