The best part is the sep wires are turning on. swapped out hvt's (ac and dc), entire fixing feeder frame, all coronas and also played with all hv adjustments in service mode with no change. If I run a sheet with a lot of print like a test chart, it tends to separate better than if I run a blank sheet. Anyone ever see this before?

Re: Canon IR8500 not separating from drum
You say you repalced all coronas, but did you repalce the pretransfere corona assy. If it shorts it will kill the seperation corona output also, causing the paper not to seperate from the drum. To trouble shoot You can run the machine without the pretrans to see if the problem goes away, -

ok, again, yes, tried all coronas and hvt's. the only time i see a difference is when i change the sep wire height (move all the way down) and the transfer wire height all the way up but then it throws a e069 and is still sticking to the drum even though the sep wires are lighting up. the sep wires don't flicker either, they are on pretty solid. pulling the drum now to see if there's anything i missed in there.Comment

cool, never thought of the fan, i tried a both hvt's from a working machine with no change so i ordered the trans sep corona and connector/harness that goes from the rear of the machine to the ac hvt. I'll make sure i have the fan with me before i go back.Comment

+ u need to check for proper ground at wall outlet--- Netural to GD= 0v/0.5v anything over that is pood ground-**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Canon IR8500 not separating from drum
You could also TRY, in ADJUSTMENT MODE, the following- HV-SP: Separation charge adjustments;
SP-N1: Separator voltage for first side of 2-sided sheet.
SP-N2: Separator voltage for second side of 2-sided sheet.
HVT-SP: Offset value adjust for separation output of high voltage unit.
D-HV-SP: Offset value adjust for separation output of DC Controller.Comment

Re: Canon IR8500 not separating from drum
On the underside of the drum assembly on the waste hopper side check the separation claws as well as the 2 deflector plates, one to the front and one to the rear, over time the pressure springs loosen on those plates due to toner collection and cause them to hang down into the paper path. most likely the rear one.
Pull the drum assembly and turn it so you can see the left side (hopper side) you will see the rear of the plates(front and rear) are held on by 2 screws that secure the pressure springs(L shaped) that press against the hopper. Place it on top of some scrap 11 x 17. Be careful as the following will cause toner collected in them to spill out. If you press up gently (only 1 to 2 mm) on the back side and release it should snap back up (makes a pop sound). If it doesn't or appears loose, Remove one spring assembly and gently bend towards the hopper(approx 1 to 2 mm trying to keep the spring arm straight), reinsert spring and screw down. Make sure to pass the spring through the 2 brackets on the plate over top of the shaft to secure properly. Then do the same for the others.
hope this helps.Some people may say I have a short temper, but I prefer to call it
