IR 2200 - Not printing what is sent.

    Hi,

I have looked for this issue but i am unable to find anything on this. If there is a thread on this issue then i apologise for the post.
    Otherwise the situation is:
I volunteer at a place one day a week, and they have a cannon IR2200. About two weeks ago me and a friend (both of us have no experience with this machine) managed to get it working (it needed ink), set it up on to a wireless print network, and installed all the drivers to all the laptops/computers.

Currently i use a net-book (XP) when there, but the problem is that when i send a letter/document to print, it prints out something entirely different. For example, i print a letter of two pages and get a 10 page print off, which does not mean much to me. Looking it up, (google) it seems to be printing off the "printer definition file".

I am guessing that this is probably an issue with the printer settings, (or coding/decoding of the documents) rather than the printer, but i have looked into the settings (on the net-book, and the IR2200) and cannot find an option to help with this. Currently this happens to two of us (both using different machines).

I only volunteer on Thursdays and cannot get to the place any other time, so any suggestions that i could try on Thursday that may solve this issue would be a really helpful. Thank you

    -Mik

      Thank you for the rely,

I am going to be honest and say i have no idea what is meant by remote UI (i did google it), but i will respond with some info which i hope is helpful.

When i go to print (in word), it brings up the printer options, with IR2200 selected, and when i click OK, it asks for ID and password, and then it should print. The printer is only connected to a print server/router and not the internet.

      Hope this helps,
      -Mik

You are being prompted for a User Name and Password because: 1. There is a System Manager ID and Password set on the imageRUNNER.
        OR because
        2. The Department ID Management feature is set on the imageRUNNER.
Use either the System Manager ID/Password or any Department ID/Password when prompted.

don't think 2200 supports Wireless LAN or Wireless Print Server printing/ could be wrong ????

u would need a wireless lan card installed in printer

        no Internet=no RUI
        RUI - Remote User Interface
        How to configure the RUI:
1.Set the RUI to On, under Additional Functions, System Settings, Remote UI. (make sure that HTTP is also enable and no IP address ranges are set for HTTP access)
2.Type in IP address of the imageRUNNER in the browser address bar.
The Remote UI makes printer usage easier and much more satisfying. End-users no longer have to
leave their computer to check if a print job has completed or if the printer is ready. Administration
becomes seamless using Remote UI functions, making it possible to remotely setup, update settings,
broadcast system messages and handle documents stored in mailboxes.

Teckat, if you plug the copier into a wireless router it pretty much acts as wireless then. Maybe thats what the OP meant?

From what he said, it printing out 10 pages which doesnt mean much to him - could that possibly be the wrong driver?

Has he got the right driver for his laptop?
Have you tried turning it off and on? No...Oh, it works now!

where does it say a iR2200 supports a wireless router ????

What i meant, is if you plug a copier directly into a wireless router (so its actually wired) you can connect wirelessly from a laptop to the router.

Thats how many of the machines i have out are working, especially for people in small offices and no servers.

It's actually how the copier in our office works!

Does anyone remember the bug bear virus that would attack canon print systems. It would cause erronious printouts like being described.

Re: IR 2200 - Not printing what is sent.

The driver used come up as a Canon IR2200-3300 PS3.

When i was looking for the driver i found 3 and i cannot remember out of two which was used.
                        It was either:
                        Canon PCL5e/5c Printer Driver v8.70

                        Or
                        Canon PCL/Raster Fax Driver v8.60

From memory i think it is the second one which was installed (Canon PCL/Raster Fax Driver v8.60). I may try the other driver on Thursday and see it that helps, unless anyone can find a better driver from canon - i looked for about 40 minutes to find one and those two seemed most likely to work.

                        Thanks
                        -Mik

Sending a post script print job to a printer that only support PCL results in a garbage output like the picture supplied, check your driver settings against the computers that are able to print correctly.

                            pcl 8.7 driver

To print use pcl 8.70 driver. No PS driver and also no fax driver.

Then it will work fine !!

                              Hi all,

Sorry for delay in response, had a hectic week.

We tried changing the driver (i think to the pcl 8.70 driver) and the printer worked fine. Hoping it continues like this.

Thank you for all the help and info.

(I am unsure if there is a way to close this topic, so if there is can someone please tell me and i will do it.)

                              Thanks again,

                              -Mik.
