iR2020 Series - Lack of Magenta!! - No error code!

    Hi all,

    The story on this one:

We sent a perfectly working and tested machine out, and now it's just randomly stopped printing any magenta with no error code.

    Take a look at the image attached.Photo 13-04-2012 16 18 51.jpg

As these are new machines we're not too clever with figuring this problem out right away so could anyone point us in the right direction?

    Thanks,

    James
Have you tried turning it off and on? No...Oh, it works now!

I've faced the same issue and the result was like the picture you uploaded, but the type is IRA C5030, it's funny coz we forgot to conect the connector of laser (M). there is no error issued..., maybe you need to check/re-connect laser connector of M...

Re: iR2020 Series - Lack of Magenta!! - No error code!

Yesterday I got customer complain due to print output was dirty (background of cyan), then I replaced a new drum of cyan, ok. I also replaced drum of magenta due to the same result (background), but after I replaced M drum I got error E020-1160. after check error code, says ensity is still low even the patch level is set to 7 (I thought this code has no relation because I just replaced M drum) 1 in 1160 represent the error for yellow. Re-install old M drum, and problem disappeared..., why this happened? I checked the counter is still below 20K. sorry if this post out of the issue of poster

          Hi, James

If the model in question is the Advance 2 series, tried searching Tech Bulletin posted by Teckat. There are modification and firmware upgrade to take note.

            Hi, arielcanon

You ought to raise another post from this, else it could confused a lot the people looking at this.

Your similar problem for Advance 5030 could be due to coupling gear broken for the affected color. Take out the developer to check for a black cross gear. It should not turn freely. If it is white color meant it has been modify with reinforced material.

First Check the Mylar strip on MAGENTA Laser Shutter
Mylar strips on the color laser shutters can hang up and block the color lasers. Re-sett the Mylars

              Laser.jpg

Also check the wire harness for the M laser

Also check if The laser shutter drive cam lock lever is broken.

if broken-u need to replace entire Shutter Cam Shaft Assembly/ Cams are NA

Gosh! That is bad R & D / QC from Japanese engineers, it ought to give out an E code for wiring that is not connected.

                    Hi

I suggest you stop the printing cycle by opening any door. Then, have a look on the image on the CTI and the magenta drum. According to the result you can conclude:

1- If there is no image on the Magenta drum: The drum is not turning or the laser beam doesen't reach the drum.

2- If there is an image on the drum and not on ITB: Default of the magenta primary transfer.

If you've a new drum, replace it to get better idea.

                    Rachid.

                      Hello James

Sorry, i used the french word for ITB.

                      CTI = ITB

                        Problem solved.

Took laser assy out and reseated it. Copier now works fine!

                        Probably a loose connection.

Been keeping an eye on this all day, but after it printed fine it went back to printing no Magenta.

So i tried all connections and stuff again with no luck, ended up swapping the laser assy from a brand new machine and been monitoring it and its working perfectly fine.

The problem must be to do with the laser assy then, but as its still under canon warranty i'm getting it swapped!
