Have you checked the pre reg sensor, I've also had it where it thinks the lower left hand door is open, their is a actuator for a sensor to the top left of this door. Which cassette is it, I've also had an issue with one of the pickup sensors and you have to split the machine from the cassette unit to get at the sensors. Hope this helps

most I found on this model..., broken mounting of fixing flag sensor, fixing flag sensor does not back standby position, machine assume that there is paper detected...

Check left side of machine or jam won't clear.
            -OPEN lower left door.
            door1.jpg
Confirm the guide plate moves freely and is not binding in the rear upper section of guide.
            door2.jpg
When the lower right door is closed it strikes an actuator that may have been dislodged causing a false jam condition.
            door3.jpg
            door4.jpg
Confirming that the guide and actuator at the rear move freely may resolve a jam that won't clear.

"Paper Jam, Open Left Cover and Remove Paper" is displayed on the screen when the unit is powered on.
This message was being caused by improper position of the Cassette 2 Retry sensor flag.
Checking the sensor (SR6) in service mode (detailed below) showed the sensor in the wrong state.

Enter Service Mode and select "Test Mode"
The display will show TEST MODE [1-9]
Hit the #6 key, the display will show FUNCTION TEST [1] - [9]
Hit the #3 key, the display will show 6-3 SENSOR [1] - [8]
Hit the #1 key, the display will show SENSOR CHECK 0:NORMAL 1:LATCH
Hit the #0 key, the display will show SENSOR NORMAL [0] - [2]
              Hit the #2 key

At this point OP1 should show 0,0 (with covers closed and paper loaded in the cassette).
Opening and closing the Cassette 2 Vertical Path Cover should toggle the display from 0,0 to 1,0.

Hello there, just by moving this tiny flag front to back. Cleared the paper Jam error. Thanks a million. Don't know what caused it. Please let me know.

                              Thanks,
Could be any cause, many sensor issues involving paperpath, are usually caused by customers slamming doors, and or cassette trays on printer in frustration.
Causes flags to dislodge, stick or even fall off.

Some spring action needs an extra winding on flags in certain printers.
                              👍 luck
