[Error Code] Error Code E000004-0202

Hello,

My Canon IR c5180i is displaying E000004-0202 when warming up. I am sure that it is the fixing unit since we placed the fixing unit to another IR c5185 that was working, and the copier displayed the same message. what can I do to solve this issue? do I have to replace the whole unit? or clean/replace a small part from the fixing unit?

Hi, E004 0202 is that their is a problem with the fixing heating unit, a incorrect temperature reading. You can't replace the individual parts you have to replace the entire assembly. When you replace it remember to do the upper and lower fixing set up in service mode or you will get displaced belt errors, E007 but usually not straight away. Hope this helps

0202 =When the difference in temperature between the center and front of the fixing belt is higher than the rating-

What could be happening is ,inside that fix belt the clear insulation on metal roller deteriorates from the unprotected face of the thermal switch/it bunches up inside belt & causes poor readings (overheat)

I used to cut them open to inspect when u were able to order just the fix belt unit/
now u need to order either a refurbish unit or a new unit/ no more rebuild parts available
