Remote scanning with the scangear tool doesn't detect canon iR 1023

Hello people, we have a canon imagerunner 1023 and want to scan remotely with the scangear tool.
I installed version 2.2.1.0 and tried both the discover option and manual ip address methods and it doesn't detect the copier.
Reading the online help it said that you need to first enable the online scanner in the copier settings, which i then did and tried again but it still doesn't work.
My windows pc is on the same network block as the copier, although with a different subnet mask (copier has 255.255.255.0 and i have 255.255.248.0 but i don't think it's relevant).

Is there something else i should try before calling for a technician?

In my experience, the subnet mask number will cause you communication problems when scanning. If the network ip, sub, and gateway don't match from the machine to the pc you will be able to print and access the machines web but no scanning. You can usually get smb to work but most softwares wont detect the machine. Good Luck.

I changed the subnet mask on the copier, put the scanner in online mode, even turned off and on the copier and it still doesn't work.
Anyone has another suggestion? I can ping the copier just fine

Could it be as simple as using 'scangear color' instead of 'scangear black and white' to detect your device ???

        best regards

i tried both, but if you go to the ir 7086 downloads site you will find only the network scangear 2.21 download

i grabbed a crossover cable and a laptop and was able to scan with it. go figure. i am asking the net guys to check the switch ports to see what's blocked.

ir1023/1025 uses IR Toolbox for scanning. The bnw and colour scangears will NOT work with the 1023/1025. Scan to file/email is much easier to setup and use imho but I understand people are set in their ways and absolutely want to use pull scanning. There's a thread that's already open that has a link to the drivers needed.

              Cheers

Thanks but it's actually a 7086, I found out earlier this week that with a laptop and crossover cable i could use the scangear tool, so that meant that this was a issue in our network security.

Turns out that the network guys forgot to remove the switch's port from the vlan therefore some traffic was being filtered.
