    ImagePass C2 won't boot (on a C3220)

    Hi all,

I have an ImagePass C2 print server on a C3220 that will not boot. The diagnostic display on the C2 stays at FF continuously. The C3220 display complains about no network connection.

So far I have checked the print engine interface cable (by testing it on another working machine), tried replacing the network cross-over cable to the print engine. No joy.

The hard disk does not even spin up. The drive appears to be OK...when placed in a PC it will spin up and attempt to boot Linux.

I have not tried re-installing the system software. Is that the next thing to try, or is there something else that I am missing?

    Thanks!
    Jim

Power machine of then try this. Pull the cmos battery and insert a screwdriver to short the contacts out for about 3 minutes.
    Reinsert the battery and reboot.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

      logical

sounds like something Spock would do on Star Trek. no harm intended, it just hit me funny when i read your name "Mr Spock" and the situation. Forgive me. Hey I got one eye that sags a little and i can raise my eyebrow. Except its the wrong side, its the viewer side and not the actor side. His left my right. yeah from watching too many episodes i guess.

        Woohoo!!

I don't know how you know what you know, but it worked!

Now I just have to get the thing properly configured on the network.

        Thanks!!

                  canon e-support

Canon e-Support is the canon online support site for authorized canon dealers. You have access to all kinds of stuff. Still a very good fix, I was going to suggest this but In was afraid the guy might blow this very expensive unit.

                    Network setup

I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about pulling the battery and wiping out the CMOS settings (not knowing what all they might contain). But, it was dead anyway...

Now, after setting up auto IP configuration (using DHCP) and rebooting, it does not go back to the Printer screens. I get a "please wait..." for several minutes, then back to the main Copy screen. Disconnecting the network cable and rebooting gets me back into the Printer screens.

So, are these normally setup with a fixed IP address, or did I mess up another setting to cause that?

                    Thanks,
                    Jim (not Kirk)

I'm not sure why it goes back into the Copy Mode. Do you have a Printer Selection Tab on the top far right of the display? Also, it would be better if you used a fixed IP address.

The Printer tab displays the Printer Status/Settings button, which goes to Please wait..., then gives up and drops back to Copy mode. I suspect that it is encountering an IP conflict with the network or some other setup problem.

I will go with a static IP address, and now that I have the C2 manuals, I am sure it will be fine...Thanks Keith!

I just need to schedule some time to go through it carefully.
