    IR8500 Image Pass Setup

I have a Canon IR8500 that is using an Imagepass M1 controller. The ImagePass communicates with the printer with no problems. The issue is I have is printing to it from the PC. I can ping to the controller but I cannot print to it. I have used various postscript drivers, including the one that is supposed to be for Imagepass M1 for Windows XP and the IR8500. I've even just used a crossover cable and went connected directly to it, but nothing. All I'm doing is a simple Add Printer on Windows to install it. Is there something I'm missing (Queue name maybe?). Can't find any install info in my documentation. Thanks.

Yes I'm using a standard TCP/IP port. I can ping to the M1 no problem. I just did the normal printer installation and I used Print Driver I used was PSv201WXP.exe from the Canon website, though I tried others. The MI has 2.01 software so that should be the right driver.

To enter Hardware Diagnostic Mode on the imagePASS M1 / L1 / M2, you will need to do the following: 1. Reboot the imagePASS M1 / L1 / M2.
        2. When prompted with the 'Press any key for Config Mode' message, press any key.
        3. The Config Mode menu will appear. Select Diagnostics.
        * This Diagnostic Mode will allow you to test all the hardware on the imagePASS M1 / L1 / M2.
Note: You can test the imagePASS M1 / L1 / M2's connection to the imageRUNNER by selecting Run Diagnostics from the idle menu (when the M1 / L1 / M2 is booted to idle). These diagnostic tests are very different from the Hardware Diagnostics Mode available in Config Mode.

Thanks for the last post, but I just want to clarify that the system is working between the Imagepass and the Printer i.e, I can send test pages to from the M1 to the printer. The problem is that when I try to print from a PC nothing is happening. The PC is connected to the Imagepass which is in turn connected to the printer.

Have you tried printing from different computers?

I've seen this before with various makes and models where a PC just won't print at all to it, yet it can print to other devices.

Things can get hung up in the PC's print spooler, and basically cause hallucinations.

Hi, i might be wrong but M1 do not support 9100 port.

At the"Ports" tab of printer driver, click " Configure Port"
Use LPR with queue name as "print" ( type the same but without quotes)
              Turn on LPR Byte count
              turn off SNMP

              Hopes it help
