How do i reset dcon on a c5185

Hi, i have a canon c5185 that in the last 2 years it happened twice where the colors would be offset by about .1" each color, and both times a tech came out and took belt off and cleaned it. both times it didn't help and they did a dcon reset.
well same thing happened again, and i want to know what the steps are for the reset. tech printed a few sheets, did reset, then entered values back in. can anyone let me know what the steps are? thanks!

From what you said, it sounds like you are not a Canon tech. Doing a DC con clear can cause you more problems that it's worth if you don't know what you're doing. Do yourself a favor and call a tech in and let them do it.

thats what i would normally do, but tech is 3 hours from here, last time it took him 5 minutes. if i had instructions i could do it myself.

You're also paying for the time spent to get the knowledge alowing to do the job the right way in 5 mn.

                  Just think about it:

Tech spend 3 hours drive to your site and do less than 30 min job. He is maybe paid a couple hundred or less???? After that, the machine works and you earn from printouts from it till the next servicing require

Now if somebody were to show you the steps for it. You can starts your printouts from the supposedly working machine. A few weeks later, that "bad idea" will crept back in another way to wack the machine out so much that the actual tech travel 3 hour and spend hours to unravel that "bad idea" (cleaning up ; replaced damage parts). In the meantime , you can't do any printouts at all.

Take the advise. Call tech in and ask him nicely of he is willing to impart this adjustment skills to you. He is the on-site tech that knows your machine better than this forum contributions. Make it a win-win situation for both of you all(tech no need drive 3 hours while you gets to have your printouts)

Actually, offset by .1 in duration of twice in 2 years meant that tech is extremely skilful and your machine well-kept. I had seen machine offset by much more than .1 AND after doing the required cleaning up and adjustment, it call back next day.
