[Misc] Canon iradv c5051 Image issue only Blac and White

    C5051 image issue black only.pdf

I have this image issue that is only happening in black and white. I have printed seperate colors and the defect shows only on black. I tested the drum and developer in a different machine and they both worked fine. Has anyone seen this particular issue in any other machine. There is a chaddering noise while printing sounds like the add toner noise but thats the only thing that seems to be out of the ordinary. I added an attachment for an example.

If anyone can help I still have this issue I have removed just about every part you could imagine to test the sensors and clutches. The reason is the only thing besides the image issue is that when the machine is processing the chaddering noise that the machine makes when toner is added on BK DV stir does not stop. It runs until the printing is complete. It is only black and I dont know where to go next.

I am also interested in this issue as this is the same problem I'm having. With mine the bands are about 80mm apart not the length (8.5x11). We have a drum unit on order (because it stayed with the black and has not shown up with other colors when we printed PG type 5 isolating each color.) I have attached samples.

#2 is PG type 5 all colors
#3 is PG type 5 black only
#4 is PG type 5 cyan only
#5 is PG type 5 yellow only

Have a close look at the inner backside of the mashine, are the tappets, that fits into the drum and the developing unit ok and not broken?

Drums and developing units are driven by separate motors and gears. If one of the black drum/dev gear teeth is broken, it will result a noise and a repetitive issue (as describe by your message). So, pay an attention to the black driving systems.

May I suggest that if you can swap parts with another machine as you originally stated could you swap the transfer belt ass'y too? I'm thinking black transfer roller may be stuck down out of the way

I am inspecting the gear. The machine is new and the the drums and dev units are OEM. I didn't see anything abnormal from the front. We have a drum and dev unit on order. Thanks for KL568 note. I will definitely check it out.

                        Update

I had let my boss take a look at the drum and I reinstalled it. We didn't test it again and I had the drum and developer ordered for this machine already. The parts came in, but before I could install them, my boss, replaced the fuser sleeve and tested the fuser. He told me the problem disappeared. The only thing we did that would have affected the image is reseating the drum unit. We also had some fine white lines going in the other direction, but they were only appearing in cyan and magenta. So I cleaned the slit glass and it went away.

I know this probably won't help the other tech, but it is what resolved my problem so I'm posting it.
