    Canon ir5000i E0746-0002

First i had error 602-003 i changed the HD and downloaded a full firmware . then the copier give me e0746-002.
The old system was ver 88.01 the new one is ver 48.01, i donot have the same ver 88.01.
Is the problem in the firmware or there are something missed.
    thanks for help.

Did you load IR5000i firmware? I think the firmware for IR5000, IR5000i or IR5000N is different and the error code although not listed in IR5000 service manual in a IR 5075 manual it says

E746 the accessories board type is wrong.

This may indicate the network card is not being detected.

It is likely that your problem lies within the language file/ boot ROM of the downloaded firmware as opposed to the type of the bootROM chip inside the copier. You might have downloaded an N-type firmware into a non N model copier OR vice versa. In other words, your firmware might be intended for iR5000iN which might cause your bootROM chip to be detected as an unsupported optional board.
If that is the case, you either find a different chip (from a junk maybe) or a proper firmware, go for the easier.

the imageRUNNER 5000i Controller Upgrade Kit must be installed in the machine. If not, an E746-0002 will occur.

this is what u need to install

            imageRUNNER5000i (without Controller Upgrade Kit)=v9.01

To confirm if the kit is installed, inspect the Main Controller for the installation of the Resolution Switching Board in the Riser Board Unit.
Item 1 in the following image is the Resolution Switching Board that is plugged into item 2, the Riser Board Unit. The Riser Board Unit is plugged into connector J1013 on the Main Controller.

there is no System Software ver. 88.01 for the iR5000 series

You probably had a v8.01 for the 5000i without the controller update

            imageRUNNER5000=v20.02
            imageRUNNER5000d/6000d=v82.03

            imageRUNNER5000i(with Controller Upgrade Kit)=v47.01
            imageRUNNER5000i(without Controller Upgrade Kit)=v9.01

            imageRUNNER5020/5020i/6020/6020i=v59.01

Always try a defrag first for a 602-0003 code=HDD sector error
To execute this mode, hold down the '1' and '9' keys on the keypad for approximately 6-8 seconds. A flashing block will show in the top left corner of the LCD. Normally, 'HD-Check' lasts about 15-20 minutes, and ends if no fault is encountered or specific sectors have automatically been repaired bringing up DOWNLOAD MODE on the LCD. DO NOT STOP ONCE STARTED.In certain cases,"HD-Check" can take longer than 15-20 minutes and sometimes the machine can hang in this mode and will never complete.
