    Canon IRC2880 PDL Data Re-load

    Hi,

    I have this machine that display "PDL Data Error", No code.
    as per SM System Software has to be reloaded.

    Is this a Canon Exclusive Tool, procedure or I can do it by other way.
    As per SM PDL data stored in Hard Drive is corrupted or missing.

    Tha machine perform copy functions very well, but printing functions are gone.
    As soon we send a print job the machine displays the failure.

    try this>>

    Turn off spooling.
    Under Additional Functions > System Settings > Network Settings go to screen 2 of 3. Press the button next to "Use Spooler". Press the Off button to turn off spooling and press OK. The file printed with no memory errors.
    Power off/on printer

    or>>
    1.Hold down the 1 & 9 keys while turning the main power switch on and let the machine go through a disk defrag (should take about half an hour)./ will go into DOWNLOAD MODE when finished/

    Power off/on printer

      As new information to me, another person erase the hard drive alocation where PLD DATA was stored.
      I perform the procedure as your recomendations and the machine display
      , "PDL DATA ERROR".
      Does I need to re-load this data?

        Re: Canon IRC2880 PDL Data Re-load

        u need to re-format HDD & reload Firmware

        someone did a HD-CLEAR--
        ON 3: PDL
        Attention:
        - The following must be kept in mind and the user must be properly informed of the fact when
        using CHECK-TYPE:
        0: entire HDD -> no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
        1: image storage area -> removes image data
        2: general-purpose file area (user settings data, various log data, PDL spool data, image data
        control information) -> initializes files
        3: PDL-related file storage area -> removes font data, requiring re-installation
        4: firmware, address book, filter storage area -> no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
        Operation method
        1) Select this item.
        2) Press the OK key.
        Attention:
        If you perform <HD-CLEAR> after selecting 1 (image storage area) or 3 (PDL file storage
        area) for the <CHK-TYPE
        > item, the initialization process is performed after the power is
        turned OFF/ON.

        The initialization process takes about 5 minutes. A progress bar slowly advances to indicate
        the progress during this time. Never turn the power OFF during this time.

        COPIER>FUNCTION>SYSTEM

        CHK-TYPE = Is Used to specify partition number when performing HD-CHECK or HD-CLEAR.

        Operation method

        1) Select this item.
        2) Use the numeric keypad to select the desired partition number.

        0: Check and restore all bad sectors on hard disk
        1: Image storage area
        2: General-purpose file storage area
        3: PDL file storage area
        4: Firmware storage area
        - General-purpose files include user-set data, log data, PDL spool data, and management
        information for image data.

        3) Press the OK key.

            did u have a e602-xxxx code also ???

            It may be possible to recover using the machine's service mode, Copier/Function/System/Chk-Type, setting it to clear a certain partition number, in your case #3-then selecting Copier/Function/System/HD-Clear.

            After selecting the hard drive partition to clear (setting Chk-Type) and selecting HD-Clear and pressing OK, it will be necessary to turn the copier/printer main switch off then on again.
            Once the power is cycled the hard drive will begin to rebuild the partition selected and will take an extra minute or two to come to ready.

            For the Sub Code(s) indicated below take the steps listed.

            * 0001, 0002, 0003,0006, 0007:

            For partitions of: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, FF use the Chk-Type settings listed:

            * For faults of: xx01, xx02, xx03, xx04 use Chk-Type 1.
            * For fault: xx05 use Chk-Type 2.
            *For fault: xx06 use Chk-Type 3.
            * For faults of: xx07, xx08 use chk-type 4.

            * For fault: xx09 use Chk-Type 5.
            * For fault: xxFF format the hard drive and load System, Language, and RUI.
            ** For sub codes of: xx10, xx12, xx14, xx22, xx23, xx24, reformat the hard drive and load system, language, and rui. If this doesn't clear the error replace the hard drive and load system, language, and rui.
            NOTE: If clearing the hard drive partitions does not clear the error, or the error returns frequently, try reformatting the hard drive and reloading System, Language, and RUI. If this does not clear the error replace the hard drive then format and load System, Language, and RUI.

                I do the procedure, no success.

                May I need to re-load system software?
                I dont have the canon system software.
