I have a Canon PC 720. Has worked flawlessly for years. Changed the catridge today and got a error light (looks like an 8 with a check mark). Anyone have any idea what that is? Or how to fix it? Thanks.

I have the same problem. No matter what I do, I get the "8 followed by a checkmark," even if I put the old cartridge back. I can't believe the printer gave up on me exactly when I replaced the cartrdige. Have you found a solution? Do you know how to get the troubleshooting instructions for this machine? Thanks for any help you can give me.Comment

Canon pc 720
I also have a Canon pc720, used very little here in my home, have only bought one replacement toner, - and it jammed the other day and I pulled the paper out from the right side, and now it will not work, thinks it is out of paper. Parts are not available anymore, so I am trying to buy an extra one on Craig's list so I can get it fixed. I bought a new Canon and it feels like a toy. If anyone knows of something I can do to fix it please advise me what to do. I LOVE THIS COPIER. I thought that as a last resort maybe I could wire around the paper sensor (if that is the issue). I teach a children's Bible class and have loved making my materials on it. The new one takes a long long timeand I don't enjoy it at all. Thanks for this opportunity to post here.Comment

Re: Canon PC 720
I sympathize with you all. Bought my PC720 13 years ago and it has worked flawlessly (light to moderate home office use). It became one of my best friends. Recently, after removing the (low) toner cartridge to shake it and replace it (always gets me some more copies), I too got the paper jam light. There was no paper jam. The tech guy at Canon was most helpful and had me check a few things (couple of small springs and a plastic widget back in the soul of the beast) but without success. He referred me to my local authorized repair facility who said they didn't have parts for it and there was no sense in taking it in to them. So I resigned myself to replacing it. Trouble is nobody makes small copy machines anymore, they are all multifunctions. So I bought one of those and already it's not as good. I copy a lot of pages from books and magazine pages and my new (HP 8500A) all-in-one won't copy from the glass unless the lid is all-the-way closed. Ah me. And this is progress?! The only good news? O.D. accepted my dead copier under their $50 trade-in promotion on the all-in-one.Comment
