Check to see if the ADF base frame is broke where the DF hinges attach to it. If the DF is not sitting flat that will cause it. If that's ok then press Add'l functions,2,8,add'l functions, then scroll to "test", press OK,2,1, and wait for ok. Press stop,3 and wait to complete. Then press stop, stop, add'l functions. If the Base is broke you have to replace the adf base frame, new style hinges and frame and white sheet.

I did look at the ADF base frame and it looks ok to me. I made copies using the ADF and the Flat Bed and noticed that the ADF is a bit blurry when using to make copies or scanning..making copies on the flat bed and scanning is ok and clear. I cleaned the ADF glass but still it didnt help. Is there another glass somewhere that I need to clean?..a platten Glass perhaps?..maybe that is why it is giving the error.

Check the gap on the left side front and rear and see if it's even. You can also push down on the left rear corner of the adf and make a copy thru the adf and see if it's any better. If it's blurry and dark on one side when only using the adf I am 95% sure the frame is broke and if it is, the frame, hinges and white sheet have to be replaced and you have to take the feed assly from the old frame and put it in the new frame. The first time I did it it took almost an hour since I was double checking everything I did.
