[Misc] Bad printing quality with CLC3200 C1 machine

    Hi,
I meet problem to print quality documents with a Canon CLC3200, through the Fiery server.
Copier quality is fine. Colour pattern test of the printer, through the printer menu on CLC3200 are fine too, both for colours or alignment. RGB, CMYK and Pantone sheets are correct.
I'm testing now different docs printing from a Windows Seven PC, with the PCL6 Canon Driver using Photoshop.
My test doc is a cmjn pattern from 0 to 100% by step of 10% of each CMY colours and mixed colours.
The result is uggly... Too much contrast and no details in light or dark values.
My settings of the Canon Driver are on "General seetings" and no manual settings for colour.
I have tested changing the working space colour profiles inside Photoshop CS5 from Canon iR C3200 for RVB and Coated Fogra39 for CMJN but I see no changes using those settings.

What would be the right way to have correct printing (I must say that I don't have such problems on my 24" large inkjet Hp printer, coulours are always fine)

I'm sure that's coming from my driver settings cause the direct printer test are correct.

Thanks a lot for your replies,

    Andre

Have you done a Fiery calibration? Also since you are using a PCL driver I assume the Windows 7 is 64bit and there is not a PS driver for that application. You can download the PS driver for the Imagepass H1 used on the IRC4080 and it will work printing to the Imagepass C1.

      Use the PS driver.

And make sure you calibrate the ImagePASS C1.

Till now, I have just made the printer calibration from the printer menu (where you can choose between "Normal" or "Expert" mode... The result seems to be really correct with nice details in lightest and darkest values and good density with mid colours. That's just when the print come of the computer that the result is uggly... Gray looks like blue, and colours are too dark in all cases.

I have tried to setup a PC running under XP, for testing the PS drivers, but I just obtain ten sheets with text in place of the print test of the driver. (Curiously, PS test from the Fiery print fine too). I shall try the IRC4080 PS driver and come back to this forum the give the results.

        Many thanks
