Some of the common causes of an E100 error are:
    • Shutter Linkage or Shutter
    • Potential Measuring Pcb
    • Beam Detect Pcb
    • Image Processor
    • Laser Unit
    • Drum

E100 error code will occur if the shutter does not open fully when the front door cover is closed. Adjust and tighten the Absorption Lever

Check the operation of the Front Door Mount Assembly. The Absorption lever (item 3) may stick on the Crank lever (item 5) which assist in opening the laser shutter.

Note: To disable Potential Control in service mode enter service mode - * 2 8 * / Copier / Options / Body / PO-CNT and change setting from "1" to "0".

If potential control is turned off the problem does not return. ??

Replaced the Photo Drum. --must check VL1M.
If the value is in the low 80's the problem may be intermittent. If the value is above 82, the problem may occur more frequently. The normal VL1M range is 62 to 82.

E100 code when Potential Control is enabled in service mode, but does not occur when Potential Control is disabled in service mode.
Replace the Potential Control pcb and sensor --

An E-100 is no Beam Detect signal. The Laser scanner unit could be dirty or the laser shutter not opening. The linkage to the shutter is on the front door switch.
