If you use usb to parallel it MUST be Nethawk and be an installed device on your laptop. No regular usb to parallel will work. There is a Canon part # for the cable.

only parallel cable must be use. because it is old model you know. did sst detect hdd while give format. if it show the hdd is not compatable model then you have to edit hd_format xx.ift file. or a simple way if you have 20gb or more space hdd you just dump from some working 20gb hdd using third party hdd cloning software like Easeus disk copy, disk clone softwares. try this it will work for you

Hi rosaro75, I am afraid you are mistaken, you can use parallel or nethawk cable to connect to this device.

FY9-4154-000 is the part number for NetHawk cable,, I have heard it mentioned that it is no longer available from parts services. You may find one on e-Bay or somewhere else.

                  Hi all

The IP of the machine is 172.xxx.xxx.100 for the machine the SST tools basically tells you to use 172.xxx.xxx.160 for the laptop. Use a rj45 crossover cable, i found this works the best. Also diable or turn off any firewall on the laptop, it causes the time out error in most cases. The new version of the sst tool is version 4.04, google the software and it can be found. Once this is done start the copier holding down the 28 keys goes into download safemode. then from the sst tool format the drive, then once that is complete you can push over the firmware. Key thing in all of this is that firewalls do not like the SST tool
