Take out the cleaning blade and y drum and have a look. Remove the waste toner feedscrew and vacuum that mess, before is getting rock hard. If it keeps soiling replace the feed screw.

have replaced a few broken feed screws in these 3220's / what a mess/& job to replace

I bet on the drum units.

Till recently we used to throw away these drum units and replace with new ones.

Now we are "reviving" them with new dev. material and new drum cylinder.

What can I say : Crisis

good news/ but in a fast pace large USA city , u have no time/or space to revive /

what is the total cost on one unit - rebuild time + parts + testing + performance + shipping + $$$$$

vs a new on hand unit ready to go--

              Re: 5185 colour fade

I just started testing them on a few CLC5151 units and iRC3580 units.

So far so good (just some minor issues)

              Regarding cost :

Dev. Material = 25-30 USD per unit
New Drum = 25-30 USD per unit
Chip = 3-5 USD per unit
              __________________________________
              Total = 60-70 USD / Unit

              Reviving time : 15-30 min

I will update when I have long time feedback from field.

It is experimental phase for us too.

it's the % amount of toner on paper coverage

remember these are tested at 5/6% text coverage for those Drum % avg monthly numbers in guide

Yeah, I have one machine, the drums fail at about 450... and another machine, the K-drum has failed at about 150

How do i check the counter settings... does this machine read a an 11X17 as one print? or two? How do you check to see the average percentage of toner on paper coverage?

                  THIS IS 6% COVERAGE
                  SEE PDF

                  6%.pdf

drum counter==none on this series/ it's all about coverage and paper type

u can set printer to count a double click for 11x17 for billing purpose
To enable this feature you must set one of the Soft Counters to ( 102 ) Total 2 in Service Mode.

                    okay, that makes sense.

i was going off the life on the p-prints... last page

                    MISC

                    *-DRM-LF

one machine would reach 400-450 and another reaches around 190 - 210 and fails.

                      ------

had a few customers that were printing at 70/80 % at full color letter size coverage > Drums did not last at all past 130/140% usage

                        Re: 5185 colour fade

I have a silly question, since we are in the subject:

Does the magnetic iron roller (shaft) loose its magnetic power over the time ?

(I mean the one inside the drum unit)
