    Canon image prograf w6400 not printing black

    Hi,

    I have a Canon image prograf w6400 that prints fine apart from no black comes out at all. It just seems to do straight into the maintenance tank. I've done head cleaning A and B and the nozzle check procedure (which is fine apart from no black again). Is there anything else I can do to try and fix it or does it require a new printhead? I'd like to try every option available before I have to fork out over 400 quid for one these!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      sounds like your printhead is clogged causing your pain. There are a few articles on how to soak and clean the printheads which might work in your case, but that is up to you and how much you are willing to spend on this unit.
      Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

          Hi, Thanks for the reply. I'll have a search about for cleaning and soaking printheads. I'll give anything a go before I open the wallet for another printhead!

              I know people who have soaked the printheads and got the debris out of it which saved them from purchasing new ones so it is worth a shot. Just take your time and follow the steps.

                  Hi,

                  I've joined this forum to find out why my printer is spitting out the 02813 error code. It seems that it is some sort of print head error.

                  The printing I do is mostly black, which is not printing "black" any more, it's more of a grey, like some of the black nozzles are blocked.

                  What is the procedure for cleaning the heads if this is the case?

                  I'm in New Zealand. Canon NZ tend to put quite a mark-up on their product here, so spending a large amouint of $$$$ on a new head is pretty much the last resort.

                  Any useful info greatfully received.
