IR 2200i horizontal lines on print (especially at start of page)

    Hello Everyone,

Our canon ir 2200i is printing black horizontal lines on printouts and copies as seen on the attached picture "blank_page". I think the culprit might be the development unit or the photosensitive drum.

When I check the developing cylinder (the drum you see when you pull out the developing unit, where the toner sits on. Check attached picture "dev_asm_ton") I can see that the drum is not fully covered in toner (see attached picture "dev_asm_drm"). Is this the cause? Why is the top of the printed page affected more than the rest of the print?

I think the problem started after a paper jam.

Any I ideas on the cause and steps to correct this problem would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Replace the drum unit.

Do you mean the photosensitive drum (not shown in picture) or the drum of the development unit (shown in pictures)?

      Kind regards

When I checked the photosensitive drum I could not see any visible damage on the part of the drum that I could see.

When I make a COPIER>TEST>PG Type6 print I get a print with noticable dense black "lines". See attached picture "PG_Type6".

What makes everyone so sure it's the photosensitive drum? Just curious

And I also hope that it's the photosensitive drum, getting a new development assembly (roller + cleaning blade) will be much more difficult for me.

dont freak yourself change the drum. It is grounded. clean also the development cylinder and adjust the doctor blade.

Oddly enought when I compare the two prints (blank page, PG_Type6) I can see that the black lines that turn up on the blank page, turn up as white lines on the PG_Type6 print. As for where those black fuzzy lines on the PG_Type6 print come from... I have no idea.

OK, I am ordering a new photosensitiv drum as this has been unanimously stated as the solution. I will let you know if the fault has been corrected as soon as I have installed the new drum.

                              certified..... could be right....

this might also by bad toner quality

drum damages show repeated marking 3 time..
primary charger n transfer chargers show more than 6 time...
