    iR-c5185 System Software Upgrade problem

    Fellows,

    I have this iR-c5185 that I am trying to upgrade but when I start the process using SST-v4.63E I get this message: "Cannot continue the process since model configuration of connected machine is not registered."

    The current vesion says:
    DC-CON: 66.01
    R-CON: 06.01
    RUI: 91.01
    LANG-EN: 91.02
    MEAP: 91.02
    BOOTROM: 78.01-C

    I have no idea what the message means and what to do. Please advice.

    U are trying to upgrade to v94.01.01 ?


    did u register & check if this ver. shows in SST
    menu-

    make sure u have only one ver. of SST on laptop

      Is this your first upgrade with SST?. Sorry,but i just need to know how to start.

        I have v.92.06 (IRC5185_V3) registered. but, it does not show DCON or RCON on the list. Also, inspecting the (IRC5185_V3) folder saved in my laptop, I noticed that the System folder show several files all beginning with IRC4080... I may have an incomplete or bad file.

          It looks like you are missing those files Bill. You will need to get a new download of the firmware and reinstall
          Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

            this is how your v92.06 registered firmware should look in SST/ everything is under iRC4580/iRC5185/V3

            when connected>under SINGLE,u will see RCON/DCON & other firmware for selected series if needed for a single update //--or repair or overwrite---
            DCON is the same ver.for all in series//RCON & ADF is only thing different between series ( for CiRC4080/ C4580/ C5180 RCON is v2.03)--(for C5185 RCON is v6.01///ADF Reader-F1 for CiRC4080/ C4580/ C5180 is v1.00//
            for C5185 ADF is 4.01( 5185 uses a different ADF Reader-G1 .

            it's just that firmware is now registered a little different in updated SST ver's---
            U use the START ASSIST MENU///it will take out the guess work for doing updates-SST MANUAL explains procedure

            other pic is how your folders should look on laptop under--C:\Canon File Folder\SST System Software Folder\SST Files\CiRC5180_V3_v92.06.01

              SST Assist Mode:
              Place the machine into 2 & 8 safe mode and press the Assist mode button.

              The Service Support Tool detects what version of system software is on the imageRUNNER device and then provides a list of system software available for downloading on the left side of the screen.

              Once the software version is selected, it downloads entire version,(unless certain Language/RUI files are turned off under Management Mode>Assist Mode LANG/RUI) to the HDD.

              When downloading the firmware is completed, the machine will reboot and install the selected System Software version.
              When the machine completes the install, turn the machine OFF/ON into 1 & 7 (Fixed IP) mode
              When the machine has been placed into Fixed-IP mode, press the ok button on the Service Support Tool (versions v4.22Et & Later) and the DCON and RCON will be downloaded to the imageRUNNER.
              Once the download is completed, the machine will install the DCON & RCON firmware.



              in SST versions v4.22Et and Later>>>Installation of downloaded firmware in Single mode is supported.
              - Downloading with Assist mode after HDD format is supported.
