I have a Canon IRC 5185i. The display board doesn't power up... everything on the machine turns on but the display board doesn't. I tried changing the whole display and it still didn't work. I made sure about all connections and they all seem fine. any suggestions?

Re: Canon irc 5185i Display problem
Try resetting the PCB's and DIMM's on the back of the machine. For some reason especally after a machine has been moved they can come out of position and stop the machine from booting properly. -

Re: Canon irc 5185i Display problem
LCD completely blank?
Try to re set DC connectors, swap RAM or change slot, unplug hard disc and observe LCD panel for any changes.
Any errors before?
Did you try to upgrade firmware maybe?Practice makes perfect

Re: Canon irc 5185i Display problem
try replacing the Power Supply (DC Converter)
Boot Dimm- did u check & re-seat it ?
did u check the wall voltage supply----HOT to Neutral / Hot to Ground / Ground to Neutral -needs to be 0.0v>0.5v nothing more
did u check AC out past breaker to DC in/ DC out in printer ?**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Canon irc 5185i Display problem
Yes the green light is on... I just noticed that whenever the machine's switch is ON the vertical transfer unit never stops working... I did check all power supplies and everything is normalComment

Re: Canon irc 5185i Display problem
normally when this happens you have a bad stick of RAM installed, a defective boot rom or a faulty main controller. If you have a machine you can borrow boards from I would start there and troubleshoot one at a time.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.Comment
