    Canon irc 5185i Display problem

I have a Canon IRC 5185i. The display board doesn't power up... everything on the machine turns on but the display board doesn't. I tried changing the whole display and it still didn't work. I made sure about all connections and they all seem fine. any suggestions?

Try resetting the PCB's and DIMM's on the back of the machine. For some reason especally after a machine has been moved they can come out of position and stop the machine from booting properly.

We disconnected and connected those parts too. is that what you mean by resetting?

And actually yea... that was the cause of the problem... we moved it from United States to Nicaragua...

        LCD completely blank?

Try to re set DC connectors, swap RAM or change slot, unplug hard disc and observe LCD panel for any changes.
        Any errors before?
Did you try to upgrade firmware maybe?

so the control panel is dead and the keys do not work....does the machine go through rotation? Is the green light on?

make sure u don't have a stuck KEY BUTTON on control panel--

try replacing the Power Supply (DC Converter)
              Boot Dimm- did u check & re-seat it ?

did u check the wall voltage supply----HOT to Neutral / Hot to Ground / Ground to Neutral -needs to be 0.0v>0.5v nothing more

did u check AC out past breaker to DC in/ DC out in printer ?

As a side question do The US and Central / South America operate on the same voltage and frequency? I know there is 230/240v 50Htz and there is 110/120v?

                  Nicaragua & US use 120v

Yes the green light is on... I just noticed that whenever the machine's switch is ON the vertical transfer unit never stops working... I did check all power supplies and everything is normal

normally when this happens you have a bad stick of RAM installed, a defective boot rom or a faulty main controller. If you have a machine you can borrow boards from I would start there and troubleshoot one at a time.

unplug the sub-main pcbs from the main controller cage, and replace them one at a time, powering on and off after each one, then checking for changes on your display.
