    Features included in 3225

How do I tell for sure what features are installed in a Canon 3225? I bought two and realize how things are being done now. Neither have MEAP. One is constantly looking to hook up IP. They both have fax. How do I really tell?
    Thanks

TO CHECK FOR LMS(License)LMS-based Printer Kits

    Perform the following steps:

    1. Press the [Counter Check] button on the copier control panel.

    2. Hit the [Device Configuration] button on the LCD screen.

    3. Scroll down through all of the available pages on this Device Configuration screen. Look for either PS, PCL or UFRII. The methods listed here (ex. PS, PCL, or UFRII) are installed and are available for printing.

    UFR II Printer Kit

The UFR II Printer Kit can be available only to the iR3245/iR3235/iR3225, and enables you to
upgrade your machine to a high-speed network printer. This kit incorporates UFR II (Ultra Fast
Rendering II) Technology, which utilizes Canon's original printing algorithm to minimize file processing and achieve maximum performance.

To use the features of the UFR II Printer Kit, it must be activated by registering a license key.

**For the iR3245N/3235N/3225N, the machine is equipped with the UFR II/PCL printer function as standard, therefore you do not need to activate this option

    UFR II/PCL Printer Kit
You can upgrade this machine to a high-speed network printer by installing the optional UFR II/PCL
    Printer Kit.
This kit incorporates UFR II (Ultra Fast Rendering II) Technology, which utilizes Canon's
original printing algorithm to minimize file processing and achieve maximum performance. This kit is
also equipped with the Direct Print functions, which enables you to print a TIFF, JPEG, or PDF image
without opening the file from your computer, using the Remote UI. It supports PCL5e/6 emulation
    printing solutions.

To use the features of the UFR II/PCL Printer Kit, it
must be activated by registering a license key.

**The UFR II/PCL Printer Kit is standard-equipped for the iR3245N/iR3235N/iR3225N.

    PS Printer Kit
The PS Printer Kit supports PS emulation printing solutions.
To use the features of the PS Printer Kit, it must be activated by registering a license key after the UFR II/ PCL Printer Kit (standard-equipped for the iR3245N/ iR3235N/iR3225N) has been activated.

    Super G3 FAX Board
Installing the Super G3 FAX Board enables you to send and receive fax documents. You can also
send documents that have been created in applications directly from your PC via a network.

Okay. It lists the UFR II on the option screen. On one machine it constantly asks about the TCIP network connection, the other machine does not. They both say they have UFR II installed. Is one not activated? Or if it is installed is it activated? Thanks for your input. I'm just still a little confused about the activation. The way I understand it, just because something is installed, doesn't mean it is activated to work. If that's the case, how do you know if it's activated? Nether one of these machines is the N version.
      Thanks

        Print out a report

The Licensed Kits are purchased from Canon/ inside the Kit is paperwork with License # LAN (License Access Number)-
The License Management System is a website used to register LANs (License Access Numbers) for Universal Send Kits and other optional kits for the Canon imageRUNNER devices.

        To Register a LAN:

        1. Using a Web Browser (ex. Internet Explorer) on your PC, go to the LMS website at Canon - MEAP -.
        2. Enter in the LAN provided in the optional kit
        3. Enter the serial number for the imageRUNNER device (the machine that the optional kit will be installed on). BE SURE TO ENTER THE CORRECT SERIAL NUMBER.

        4. Copy down the License Key number for the installation./
If you don't have or lost this Key # u are out of luck---

To Install the Optional Kit on the imageRUNNER Device
        :

        1. On the copier, hit Additional Functions > System Settings > scroll down > License Registration.

        2. Enter the License Key number you copied down when registering the LAN on the LMS website.

        3. Hit the Start button on the License Registration screen.

        4. Reboot the copier.

        * Note that some optional kits may require certain prerequisite items to be installed before performing the above steps.

I can't go to the Canon LMS site. It wants a login and password. This is very confusing. So even though I have the machine with the UFRII installed and functioning, I still can't retrieve the license number without a log in and password. It really doesn't matter because that one works.
Why would a UFRII be installed and not activated? I tried installing the software on my PC but it will not find the copier on my network and I am unable to enter any TCIP settings.Even if I wanted to buy it, I must go through a Canon dealership?

LMS site will not have your License # , site is for registration-

            https://c-lms.com/license/enduser/portal/LAInput.jsp

The License Access Number is packaged with the option you/or someone else purchased.

in Service Mode > if u print out a report it will tell u what is activated

Thanks for all your help. I have them both network printing. IPv4 was turned off on one of the machines. I was able to manually load the IP address and get it to work. Again thanks.

Since I'm doing so good. So if I look at the features installed from now on, if it says UFR II is installed, you can pretty well bet it's been activated. Once it's activated, other than a disaster of a board type, why would one ever need the license key?

Some iR's require a License activation/ others do not/ u install the required pcb from physical option kit
--- some iR'S have options pcb's as standard (no activation needed > no pcb install needed-----

It is important to keep paper work from any ordered options kits that have LAN #'s

                    makes sense ---prevents aggravation

License key is needed for a Printer to Printer transfer if needed.

When transferring your key from one copier to another, you must make sure to disable the License Key on the imageRUNNER you are transferring from. The copier will then generate a transfer key number *. You will need this number when you call the Technical Support Center to transfer the license.
                    * Make sure you have this number (Transfer License Key) handy when calling the TSC.
This number must be provided to ensure that the License was indeed cancelled on the imageRUNNER.

                    needed before calling Canon-----
                    1. The serial number of the old device.
                    2. The serial number of the new device. (Verify that this serial number exists in your dealer inventory).
                    3. The Transfer Key number. To get the Transfer Key number, you will have to disable the license on the old device (see above).
                    4. Have the orginal LAN number

You only need to call the Technical Support Center to transfer the license from one machine to another machine. You do not need to call the Technical Support Center to disable the license on a given machine. Simply follow the procedure above to disable the license on your device. Write down the resulting Transfer Key Number and the serial number of the device that you disabled the license on. Also write down the License Access Number for the kit. Keep this information in a safe place. When you have the serial number for the new device that you want to transfer the kit to, then call the Technical Support Center with all of the above required information. The Technical Support Center staff can then transfer the license in the LMS system and generate a new license key number for your new device.
