    [Error Code] Any info

    Hey all ,
I'm a Sharp technician by trade. I have a customer with a Canon IR C4080 with a E000008-001 code. I know it's the fixing unit end of life code. The customer is willing to order the fixing unit and asked me to install for her. My question is is once I install the unit how do i reset the counter ?
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hello,

There are three things to do after you have the fixing unit installed. One as you say is clear the fixing service counter the other is to do a fixing home position search for both the upper and lower belts.
    1. The counter can be found in service mode level 1 by pressing "Additional functions" (asterisk with a head shape around it) 2 and 8 at the same time and additional functions again. Once in sevice mode press copier > counter > DRBL-1. Press FX-BLT-UP and then the "C" clear key. This will reset the counter to zero.
    2. Now to set up the fixing assy. While still in service mode press Function > Fixing > FX-UHP-S and OK. the unit will then perform the upper belt home position set up. Wait for the display to show OK (If it shows NG! you have problems!!!)
    3. On the same screen press the FX-LHP-S and OK and again wait for the OK. (once again if you get a NG! you have a problem).

You shouldn't have to do an error clear, as the error code - as you say - is the end of life message for the unit and by clearing the counter you clear the code. Please don't be tempted to just clear the code without replacing the unit. When these things go over life they can cause all sorts of problems.

    All the best.
