ir 8070 9070 105i bootroms and firmwares information
Re: ir 8070 9070 105i bootroms and firmwares information
Hmmmm! Seems to be a newbie or novice in this field? Well don't worry, take heart. All of us were once newbies in this field. It takes a while to get acquainted to new things. My advice to you is start by taking some lessons in computer basics, including Networking Essentials. Those terminologies 'bootroms , softwares/firmwares etc, are synonymous with computer devices. Once you understand their role in computers it will be much easier for you to appreciate their applications in other devices like digital copiers.
But for a quickie, you may 'google' those words to get an insight into what they mean. You also need to get the respective canon service manuals and study them.

System Software/Firmware =Firmware is the Software that runs on the device. (stored in Hard Drive)
A driver is the software that tells your operating system how to communicate with the device.
Composition of Firmware
System =Control of the system as a whole HDD Language =Display of control panel screens HDD RUI =Display of the RUI HDD Boot =Start-up of the machine BootROM DIMM G3FAX =Control of the G3 FAX Board G3 FAX Board DIMM Dcon =Control of DC controller DC controller PCB Soldered to a flash ROM Rcon =Control of the reader controller Reader controller PCB Soldered to a flash ROM
Boot Rom= Storage of Boot Program/The System Control Software used to control the machine is stored on the HDD.
At time of start-up, the CPU on the controller PCB follows the Boot Program to read the System Software from the HDD to the SDRAM on the controller PCB.
When the main power switch is turned on, the CPU on the main controller PCB first executes the self diagnostic program stored in the Boot ROM.
