Believe that card has a Canon Secure Print Program/with password protected feature for log in on printer

Printing will not begin until the user arrives at the device to key in the password entered before the start of the print job, protecting highly-confidential information from accidental views.

After installed the optional Canon SD card – B1, the user can initial the secure print function by activate in the printer driver, then every print out will only be initiated after the user enter the password via the operational panel.

**U should be able to use a regular SD HC Card> but u wont have that secure program

Just give it a try, what do you have to loose?
If i remember correctly, on models with hd attached, you need the password to be send within the driver, its not on the hd itself, so chances are good, that the SD card will work similar way.
Insert a normal SD Card and see, what happens

the only way Canon can charge $300.00 for this SDHC 8GB card, is if it has a Canon Print Security Protected Program /w Numerous User Pin Number Access / which is embedded - & can not be removed

otherwise it's a ripoff of customers

To be honest; and yes, this is not only at canons side; some functions are a ripoff at all, because all bigger mashines are fully equipped, you only have to enter a code to get it free... maybe, we have to employ a group of russian hackers here to lay our hands on it :P
