Canon IR C3200 Machine Turning Off??

I am currently testing a fuser unit within this Canon IR C3200 machine, however, it constantly keeps turning off after boot up. Flicking what apperas to be an emergency shut down switch at the back.

Does anyone know what on the fuser would trigger tghis in the machine.

The fuser has done around half its life (50K) but not its full life yet.

Any help..??

This sounds like an AC short circuit issue. The fuser unit on this machine is not the best of fusers and not designed to be taken apart or refurbed (sealed unit). They never seem to work properly after they have been taken apart either. Ditch the fuser and replace it with a new one, tampering with them is a false economy.

You are oh so right about the fuser on this line of machines. Canon could of done better. Try starting the machine with the front door open and check the error codes in service mode.

3200 fuser are designed to be modular, 2 screws drop in takes longer to open the boxes... If you look close at the feed tired and the fuser they resemble HP type designs which they are.. the feed tires are swappable with HPLJ 5si/8000 tires.. anyway.. OK open the fuser/duplex drawer power up does the machine power up?? if it pops the breaker its not the fuser start moving up the ac lines.. if it comes up push the drawer in Does it pop off? then start with a new fuser. DO NOT try and rebuild it to save money because you wont and dont let your manager say any different by the time you get it apart replaced and put together you could have bought 2 fusers with the time wasted. the 3200 was designed to be MODULAR like a HP, could be why its a strong runner. as for the quality of the fuser it is no different then any other fuser and still better then an irc 5180 series. I can get a very wide range of paper thru it and it does the job well for a 30 min machine. I carry 2 in my car stock and with a complet pm drums itbrebuild cleaning and fuser replacement the entire job can be done in 45 min to 1 hr which isnt bad. Good luck

I did'nt know that fuser of 3200 resembled with hp5si. When you mean feed tired, is it rollers ?

Sorry Yes i ment Tires .lol. They are not the same.. but they are close in design, formfactor that is. I mean they look like they come from the same factory, Also the part number system seems to be the same: ie.
RG5-3718-000 IS A MANUAL FEED ROLLER ON A HP PRINTER 4000 SERIES.
AND FC6-6661-000 IS A CANON sep roller for IRC3200 plus many other models, same labels and everything.

we rebuil these fusers all the time and save ourselves thouasnds of dollars through the course of the year rebuilding them ourselves. Takes about 45 minutes and is very easy to do.

Also on your shutting off. Pull the vertical feed path out just above your fuser and clean the sensor that is at the bottom just above the fuser and replace the two switches. They are causing your short out.

Are you doing rebuilds on site or off site? I never gointo the shop at all. Im dispatched from home into the field, so doing rebuilds on site tend to be costly for us.. Are you totally rebuilding the fusers or just replaceing rollers. After 200k-300K prints the plastic around the housing gets real brittle and crumble. Just my 2 cents anyways.lol.

customer location usually, or I will have one rebuilt and get the customer up and going and rebuild the bad one while they are testing the machine. Then I have the rebuilt one for the next call. We put in the rollers and bearings and the lower roller we used a modify kit to get rid of the bushing that extends the life of the rollers to around 150K - 225K if they run nothing but 28 lb paper. Since I can do a rebuild for around $170 that outperforms canons rebuilt ones and they cost me $225 and a new cost around $299. I feel I can justify the 30 - 45 minutes of my techs time to rebuild them.

Nip Level on Fuser Unit [IRC3200]

How do you run the Nip Test Found in the service mode, Is it accurate?! From this how do you calculate to what level the fusers nip screws be tightened?!

Is the IR C3200 Fuser is it CRU or SERU unit? If it is which i doubt CRU where would i buy brand new OEM Fusers?!
