[Error Code] IR C5185i Error 3-0001

Got error 3-0001 in middle of a long job, restarted twice,
Installed another used fixer, no change
manual suggests looking at thermistor connector,
does anyone know where that is?

      Re: IR C5185i Error 3-0001

did u clear error when u swapped units ????
u need to remove unit to inspect connections /
      click on attached pic

what also happens> interior coating on inside pressure belt metal roller is scraped off by the unprotected thermostat face/ causes error readings because it pushes thermostat away from belt

      other to note---------------------------------

were u working on ITB Unit before e003 ??

if so check that large metal plate underneath ITB unit/ make sure the varistor(1) is screwed in place/

if u removed that plate because of dirty copy edges/ u need to make sure loose varistor end (2) is wedged under metal leaf '(needs to be grounded)
techs do remove that large plate because of waste build up inside plate> once removed u have no place to insert other screw>>> but u need to always make sure to wedge loose end under leaf plate shown in pic
      ITB_Varistor.jpg

varistor helps to dissipate charges built up in the ITB assembly. The removal, malfunction or modification of the varistor can cause a variety of problems.

        THANK YOU
I did work on ITB 25k ago, removed bottom pan, and screwed veristor in hole, instead of wedging under spring leaf, I CORRECTED THAT NOW.

As soon as I restart, in the first minute it gives me same code, how can I reset this error code?

if error does not clear/ in service mode (after u power off/on) u need to remove Fix Unit to inspect pressure belt surface condition/

note to remember---if inside coating is bunched up like i posted/ this will cause that error/

u then need to replace that entire unit (a refurbished one)

              Reset error
              printer running
(I do have the service n parts manual)

color registration was off on all colors,
did auto grad. Helped a little
cleaned inside main unit. Helped a bit more
removed and reinstalled intermediate transfer unit
              Now color is reg correctly.

              thank you Teckat and everyone
I am printing scanned text images, in color, (black and red text)
the print is coming out too glossy, anyway to turn the gloss down?
i did notice that even though my text is black, it is layering all the colors over each other to form the black text.!?!

This is a driver issue. You have to tell the driver how to treat the black text.
If you are printing pdf, there is an option "print as image", which should be turned off.
When it prints as image black gets printed with all 4 coluors.
Ther is an option in the Fiery driver Expert Settings for Black text/Graphics

If you are using some other driver you have to poke around to find a similar option.

                  on Glass copies--
this is because u probably have Full Color selected on control panel/ Full color lays down 4colors on B & W black text---u need to select Auto Color when copying on Glass/or using ADF

U can also Select the SPECIAL FEATURES TAB(lower left control panel)
to adjust --Place your originals / press [Special Features] / [Image Adjustment] /Press [Color Balance]
                  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
for Network prints/ u need to look at print driver or the Apps settings /
if u have a Fiery connected> check in the Fiery Printer Settings for adjustments(there are many to choose from)

The Fiery EFI Controller offers below> enhanced achromatic color expression by a variety of achromatic options, including Print Gray as Black, AutoGray, Rich Black, Pure Black, and Black Overprint.

                  Gray Processing---

                  --Print Gray as Black
Prints the achromatic gradation with the K color instead of a mixture of CMY colors.
                  --AutoGray
Automatically generates the each color tone curve to optimize the gray balance.
This prevents any color unbalance in the neutral gray range.

                  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                  Black Processing
                  --Rich Black
Prints black as 100% K and 50% Cyan. This results in sharp black.
                  --Pure Black
                  Prints black as 100% K.
                  --Black Overprint
Overprints black characters even when the original application does not support color separation.

Hi Guys, I agree with the Fixes for CanonDuddett issues as I have had similar problems with the IRC4580s also - so please forgive my ignorance/lack of knowledge of the Copytechnet Site and jumping on the back of this Post, regarding my next 2 questions.

1/- I can Post Replies to Threads however I don't seem to be able to find how to post a 'New Post' Problem.

2/- I have an IRC4580 which was copying/printing fine, until the unit was moved to another building (in a school moved by 'them what know' about 200M along pebble coated paths), now the Colour Registration is out, I have stripped the ITB Unit, cleaned inside the Belt, cleaned the ITB Unit and sanded the Facing Rollers, cleaned the SALT/PATCH Sensor Unit, my question is would it be possible for the vibration of moving the m/c over the pebbles be enough to vibrate the Lasers out of whack? Will I need to realign the Lasers - ie. repositioning the Black Laser Cam and perform the Colour Unit alignments etc. or am I overlooking something a bit more obvious?
Once again my apologies for the Thread interruption.
                    Cliff.

u can also do a Laser alignment in service mode level 2 on this model series/
COPIER>FUNCTION>LASER>LD-ADJ-Y/M/C in service mode Level 2.

                      SERVICE MODE> Level 1
                      press Additional Functions Key (once)
press #2 & 8 key at the same time (release both)
then press Additional Functions Key again (release it)

                      now>
to get in Level 2 hit Additional Functions Key (once more) then press #2 key

LD-ADJ-Y/M/C Making the tilt correction motor return to the initial position automatically.
                      Operating Instructions
                      1) Select this mode.
                      2) Press the OK key.
                      - The operation starts. It automatically stops when it is completed.

The tilt correction motor may get locked when the tilt amount in the horizontal scanning direction exceeds the expected range, and consequently color displacement cannot be corrected even though automatic registration is conducted.
When this symptom occurs, use this mode to make the tilt correction motor return to the center position automatically.
(If you try to do this operation manually by opening the scanner unit, you may touch the lens. For this reason, be sure to do it by the automatic operation.)
This Service Mode is used to correct the tilt of Y, M, and C against BK, which is used as a reference, when the tilt is large (when the horizontal lines are higher at the right).

All 4 laser mirrors can be "homed" using the same directions.

After removing the laser from the machine remove the two black screws from the metal cover. Turn the cam gear until you hear the mirror pop. Turn the gear 1/2 of a rotation to center the mirror. To check if the mirror is centered correctly look through the small hole in the metal plate above the white gear. Make sure the cam on the gear is centered in the hole. Reassemble the laser and install it back in the machine. After the machine comes to ready run an Auto Gradation Quick Adjust.
