[Error Code] iR3300 E019 (Waste Toner) When toner bottle is not full.

I have a lot of the imageRunner 2800/3300/3300i/3320i. This machines are great, but i dislike how it senses that the waste toner bottle is full. The bottle has a little window on top and many times before it reaches 1/4 of toner the little window gets dirty with toner.

As a result you will get E019 quite often even though there is more waste toner that can go into the bottle.

I once made a hole into the bottle where the light sensor passes through. It work great. But there is something that tells me that there must be another way to fix this, it is doubtful that Canon will make a mistake like this.

So making a hole will work, but I am eager to find a more elegant solution.

    Thank you.

Actually that was Canon's solution or at least their field tech's. Just drill out the hole and make it a part of your regular checks to make sur the bottle doesn't over fill.

If I remember correctly Canon didn't offically release an ATI or tech bulletin but did say on the training courses to drill out the bottle as cleanly as possible so bits of toner aren't deflected out of the hole and possiblely onto the sensor.

Not elegant - but it works.

I have my own fix, simply unplug the waste toner sensor, orange connector just above the waste bottle, you will never get a E019 error again, much better than drilling a hole in the bottle that still causes false E019 errors anyway!

Then I just check the bottle every drum change, it can hold around 200-300k so don't even need to check that often.
