I'm a network admin. One day one of the offices called me to let me know that an iR-ADV C2020 was delivered, and they needed me to setup the unit.
I was on the network, I was given the IP address and was able to access the unit's built-in browser. So far, so good.
I was able to use the direct-print built into the browser to find a PDF document on the server, and it printed it out. Great.
But when I remotely loaded drivers on a Win7 machine, I was unable to get it to print. I basically did this:
(1) Add a network or bluetooth printer. Windows 7 found the IP address of the printer.
(2) Load the drivers I downloaded from the Canon site. I've tried the PCL6 and PS3 drivers (I think 2.8 and 2.7 versions, they were some of the newest drivers on the Canon site).
(3) Now I sent a test page to the printer, and nothing happens. The Windows machine acts like it sent the job. Nothing prints, though.
I looked in the web browser and found an option for "Allow Printer Jobs with unknown ID'S" and enabled that, and did the same for scanner jobs (as that will be coming next).
But still when I send print jobs, the Windows machine acts like it was able to send the job through, but the printer never prints anything.
The users at the office have never used the device before. I asked them if they have to press something on the printer to actually start a print job, they have no idea.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
