[Misc] IR 2520 Scan to mac or vice versa

    Hello,

I just purchased an IR 2520 ( no i) and was told I would be able to scan either from my mac or to my mac.
However neither works. I checked the Canon site, there is scnagear for windows but not for mac.
Does anyone have any idea how to do this.
The printer is hooked up on a network.
The sales rep installed the UFR driver
    Imac 10.6.4
I can print but no scan.

    Thanks for any help.
And pardon me if this question has already been asked. I have searched the forum but was unable to find answers.

The lack of an "i" in the model number means that you don't have Universal Send, that would otherwise provide push scanning.

As for pull scanning, there is no Mac TWAIN driver for this model, Network Scangear. It MAY be available for larger / newer models, but not this one.

Your best bet may be to pick up an el cheapo used Windows computer, and scan into Ifranview or the like, using Network Scangear. You would then share the files across the network back to your Mac(s).

Thanks for the info. I was already thinking of installing windows on my mac.
Do you know if it is possible to upgrade the non -i to an i?

Again thanks for the quick response.

I highly doubt that it can be converted, as most machines cannot.

The "i" model is normally totally separate - it must leave the factory that way.

The only reason I hesitate is that the 2520 is not a North American model, and that is what I am familiar with. I am assuming that you are not in North America. (Some models can have it added; it's a matter of a firmware flash and a license, but I don't think that pertains here.) You may want to verify with your local Canon dealer just to be sure.

Adding Windows to your Mac using Parallels (or the like) sounds like an ideal solution, though!
