Which Canon Color Copier?

We are a small independent business that only deals with Canon equipment. We are just now looking to get into color and was wondering what your thoughts were on which of the models would be the best best to start out with. We are looking at the Canon IR C2620/3220 series and the Canon IR C5800/6800 series. As far as the Cost per copy looks, the 5800 series is much cheaper. 5800 - single drum, 2620 - 4 drums.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the two as to which is the better machine for our customers; costs, downtime, copy quality, serviceability, etc.

I would stay away from the 5800 series. Poor cq is one reason. Another is it is VERY labor intensive. The 3200 series is a good one. Also look at the irc2880. That one is my favorite.

like the iRC2880. Eye of the beholder I guess, but I like the copy quality better than our C1 and only time I see the 2880s is for scheduled PM.

4080/5180 beefed up 3200 ,weak point fuser & cost of replacement
2880/3880 -what the 31xx should have been

the best thing to do is stay way from the 5800-6800 irc 3200 series good as well as the 3380 is good.. every here has been very honest with you.....

Thanks for all the replies. From the responses, we will start with the 3220. I have not worked on the 5800 series but the specs looked good though except that it only copies 16 pages per minute in color. The one drum seemed liked a good idea. Is it really better to have a four drum system?

Yes ...... Avoid 3100 and offspring as if it was your mother in law ,,, 3200 2880 fantastic machines ......

Canon released the 2550 a couple weeks ago and its the same chassis/engine as the 2880/3380 and $1000 cheaper.excellent machines

5800/6800 series is HORRIBLE stay away from it at ALL costs...the 3220 is an excellent machine the 5180(the big brother to the 3220) is ok but i agree the fixing unit is a weak point(fails early and is expensive like $1200)

The 3100/3170 is slow and now fun to work on...its a so so machine

3220 Baby...cant go wrong

Oh if you want excellent color get the C1 fiery but it is pricey...it gives you true adobe postscript quality
