Is the replacement drive the same model as the original? We have not had much luck using just any HD (not that we get the Canon HD - we just use same model from another provider).

Some people indicate they get other HDs to work - I am just not that lucky/bright.

Once upon a time you had to use the Canon supplied drives because they had special formatting. Its pretty rare I ever have to replace one but never had a problem using the supplied format file and SST.
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.

use a crossover cable and set your laptop or computer to 172.16.1.101
your subnet to 255.255.255.000. then start the copier in safe download mode. 2 & 8 when done go back in using fixed ip mode 1&7 and put in download mode. I think there is a file it doesn't transfer in 2 & 8 on this model. Cant remember for sure. if its grayed out it, you'll have to use 1 & 7 after you transfer everything else and it starts up. remember to format manually first, then install. Look at the firmware chart to see if it all matches to the versions you are using, like rui, language things like that. No mis-matches. some models needs dimm chips. like the ir 5000, ir2200. Oh always select the cable you are using LAST before you press the last button to start the download. otherwise it will revert back to bicentronics. This time with the crossover cable you need to select network.

Are you a trained and certified Canon Tech? If not you CAN kill your copier. The SST to reformat and load the software is tricky thing to do. If you are an end youser the best and cheapest way is to call upon the local dealer.
Like the United States Postal Service It's a miracle it works!
