    Firmware Request - C3200

    Hello!

I realize I'm a new member here and I'm imposing requesting this without participating so far.

However, I'm in a real pickle right now and am in desperate need of the firmware for the C3200. I am in possession of the appropriate tools to load it, so all I will need is the firmware.

If anyone would be so gracious to assist me I'd be tickled pink!

You can message me here, or gbestwick@shaw.ca

    Cheers
    Gord

The problem is that the hard drive is toast and the local canon shop doesn't have "any in stock", and will take an amount of time that is much longer than what we can wait.

So, I've got some a suitable replacement drive and I need to reload the firmware on it so I can actually use my copier.

        Cheers

            Well, don't laugh too hard....

I took a 250gb hard drive, re-cut it so it had an lba indentical to an 80gb that was in the list of known models. Created an new entry in the IFT file, and loaded the firmware.

I also wrote a utility to automatically add entries to the IFT file that fills in the correct information, formats the name and updates the model count.

Not bad for an end user in less than 3 hours....

Well ONYA, maybe you could create a version of SST that other wanting techs could use also.

How DO you do that 'Thumbs Up' thing TechKat?

                    Re: Firmware Request - C3200

For the IFT file editor, I'd really really love to get my hands on the HDFORMAT file that are for other machines.

For a 40/60 GB drive they use the same information after the header, and for an 80 they use another bunch.

I'm wondering if there were drives issued for other machines up to 120gb before 48 bit LBA was used.

As for the utility, I just need to make it pretty and I will make it available for others to use!

                    Cheers

many of the newer HDFormat.ift files are Encrypted as shown below(ex.of the iRC5180 file)
here is a good .pdf read on "SST HDD Not Found" message--
