Activating the e-RDS on a Canon device for imageWARE Remote
The Network Settings in the Canon device must be properly configured with all of the following :
- IP Address Settings (including the correct IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address settings).
- DNS Server Settings.
- Proxy Settings (if necessary).
- SNTP Settings. (can use TIME.NIST.GOV). Some customers such as hospitals, state/local or government agencies may have their own SNTP time servers and may not permit the use of other third party SNTP servers, in those cases ask the IT dept for the correct SNTP server to use within their organization.
To activate eRDS (on most supported models):
1. Enter Service Mode (press Additional Functions, 2 and 8 simultaneously, then Additional Functions).
2. Select Copier > Function > Install.
3. Set eRDS to 1, then press OK.
To activate e-RDS (imageRUNNER 2016 / 2020 / 1023 / 1025 models):
1. Enter Service Mode (press Additional Functions, then 2, then 8, then Additional Functions).
2. Press the right or left arrow repeatedly to scroll to '# E-RDS'. press OK.
3. Scroll to 'E-RDS SWITCH'. press OK.
4. Set '001' to a value of 1 (default = 0) to activate eRDS. press OK.
The default e-RDS Service Mode settings should not be changed (see the screen shot above):

The imageRUNNER uses HTTPS / SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol to communicate with the UGW (Universal Gateway Server).
The port number is 443. Verify that port 443 is not being filtered on the network (ex. Firewall).
* Please note that if you have an imageRUNNER that is connected to a Fiery controller (ex. imagePASS), you will not need to complete any extra port configurations on the Fiery controller.
