we have a problem with a ir 3180ci the machine keeps asking for magenta toner to be replaced. we have tried diffrent original toners but message wont go can anyone help?

There is one way to supply toner to the developing assembly. it is by opening/closing several times the toner cartridge blue door and the front door. Unless if the corresponding dev unit presents an issue with its toner supply syetem.The toner densities (Display>Dens) must be arroud zero value.

Replace M toner hopper sensor
Piezo sensor inside the toner hopper detects the level of toner and judges for toner presence or absence.

DC Controller sends signal to turn on the stirring plate inside the toner cartridge in order to add toner to the hopper unit.
If the Piezo sensor does not detect any toner inside the hopper then it will assume that there is toner inside the toner cartridge and the DC cont indicates the message to replace the toner cartridge.

Either the Piezo sensor is either defective or the cartridge shutter is not opening all the way, or the stiring plate inside the toner cartridge is not stiring and fails to add toner to the hopper unit.


Also u may need to remove and inspect/clean the gears


NOTE:
After the customer replaces a toner bottle, & the toner level indicator does not reset under the consumables tab.
This will occur, if the customer does not follow ALL of the instructional screens for adding toner, when toner is installed.
Enter User Mode > Additional Functions > Adjustments and Cleaning > Toner Replacement While Printing is Possible.
Select the color that was replaced, then press YES.

Hi Mr Teckat

It is an IR3180C and there is no hopper and no piezo sonsor in this model. The toner cartridge is installed directly in the dev unit.
