    IRA 2020i

Hello Merry Christmas to you all

I have a 2020i which is putting out grainy copies.I changed the black drum, I inspected it and there was a lot of toner on the drum surface, so my theory was the cleaning blade had lost its effectiveness, once the new drum was installed the problem was resolved.

But the issue has asrisen again, surely I can't have 2 original canon drum that are faulty, the first one ran to about 60% of it life according to service mode.

    Thanks for your advice

The closest thing I could find in the service manual was termed as fogging, is that the same condition /term?

post pics of issue is this only on one color (BLACK)

      grainy--fogging = have different meanings
is text sharp but u have background in white areas ?
      or----------------------------------------------------------------
      Drum Ghost
residual toner accumulates on the Upstream Brush increases, potential cannot be equalized when outputting solid white and solid black after transferring to the ITB so that the failure occurs. This may cause a "Drum Ghost".
      1. Specify the color with which ghost occurs by visual check
      2. Increase the level of Upstream DC bias by 1
      (L2) COPIER>ADJUST>HV-PRI>USUB-xDC
      3. If the trace of Upstream Brush has not disappeared, decrease the level of Upstream DC bias by 1
      4. Decrease the amount of toner deposit
      (L2) COPIER>OPTION>IMG-MNCON>TNR-DWN
      5. If the issue still persists, replace the Drum Unit of the specific color
      6. Return the service mode setting value to the default
